Veterinary Surgeon Vacancy – Independent Small Animal Practice, Cheshire

About 
A proudly independent small animal practice based in Cheshire, operating across two locations, including a flagship RCVS-accredited small animal hospital. The facilities are state-of-the-art, featuring:

  • Two theatres
  • Dental suite with dental radiography
  • In-house lab with IDEXX and EPOC machines
  • DR x-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Video endoscopy
  • Laparoscopic equipment

At both sites, they are committed to delivering the highest standards of first-opinion care in a supportive and welcoming environment. The secondary site is a purpose-built standalone practice, seamlessly transferring overnight inpatients to the hospital to ensure continuity of care.

The Team
You’ll join a skilled and collaborative team comprising:

  • Eight experienced vets, including Advanced Practitioners in Anaesthesia, ECC, and Medicine, plus a diplomat orthopaedic surgeon.
  • Visiting specialists in Soft Tissue Surgery, Cardiology, and Diagnostic Imaging, enabling them to manage a wide range of complex cases.
  • A dedicated nursing team of eight RVNs and two SVNs, led by a DipAVN, including ECC certificate holders.

The Role
Looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join the team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Deliver exceptional first-opinion care to clients and their pets.
  • Be proactive, compassionate, and an excellent team player.
  • Share the commitment to clinical excellence and patient welfare.

They provide ongoing support and encourage professional growth, including funding and mentorship for postgraduate qualifications.

The Rota

  • Four-day working week.
  • Two additional days off in lieu for weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 8 am–5 pm).
  • Shared inpatient care rota (1:8 nights).
  • No on-call duties – a dedicated out-of-hours provider handles emergencies.
