Veterinary Surgeon - Barnsley

 

Join a thriving, family-run independent practice in Barnsley, seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to become a valued member of their team. RCVS accredited practice with top-notch facilities including digital x-ray, endoscopy, advanced ultrasound, separate dog and cat wards Expert Team: Collaborate with certificate holders in imaging, cardiology, and emergency & critical care. You’ll also work alongside vets who specialise in exotics, ocular procedures, and orthopaedic surgery. Roving role - Love variety? A well-established family-run practice with over 45 years of experience is currently looking for a Full-Time Permanent Small Animal Vet to join their dedicated team. With 8 bright, modern, and air-conditioned practices across South Yorkshire, our client has built a culture of respect and camaraderie, where staff are treated more like friends than employees.

 

The main RCVS-accredited practice is located in the bustling market town of Barnsley, offering a busy environment with an exceptionally wide and varied surgical caseload. This is the perfect opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon who is eager to refine their skills, gain hands-on experience, and broaden their expertise. The practice is home to a highly experienced team that includes certificate holders in imaging, cardiology, and emergency and critical care, along with vets specialising in exotics, ocular procedures, and orthopaedic surgery.

 

The state-of-the-art main Tier 2 operating centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including digital x-ray, endoscopy, and advanced ultrasound, along with dedicated dog and cat wards. The practice is equipped with a full range of anaesthetic tools for seven operating areas, including five individual theatres. Additional facilities include ECG, ultrasonography, and direct digital radiography for outstanding image detail and speed. Other advanced equipment includes suction machines, video endoscopy, pulse oximeters, and a full suite of IDEXX lab tools, such as Cortisol and T4 machines, Vetlyte electrolyte analysers, and Lasercyte haematology analysers. The practice also features hydrotherapy services with a dedicated physiotherapy team, and much more!

 

Conveniently situated near the Pennines, the practice offers excellent transport links, with six airports located within 1.5 hours and easy commuting options to Leeds and Sheffield, just 20 to 30 minutes away. The area also provides affordable housing and excellent schools, making it an ideal place to live and work.

The Rota:

 

Full time - offering a good work/life balance Alternate 4 and 5 day weeks Roving role between practices 2 hour fixed lunch break every day 1:5 weekends No Night Emergencies  

 

The Benefits:

 

Competitive salary between £50,000 and £90,000 Vehicle provided Generous CPD package and 2 weeks paid CPD leave 6 weeks’ holiday plus all Bank Holidays except 1 Payment of professional registration fees Health care Staff discount
