Veterinary Surgeon - Independent Clinic - Rare Opportunity

Long standing, friendly team in a beautiful location around the St Albans area. Lots of beautiful country walks around and close enough to London on a short train journey.

Our clients are looking for a vet to come and join them on a 3/4 day week with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. Shifts will be 9am – 7pm during the week with a little bit of sole charge involved. Saturdays are 9am – 12pm. We believe in looking after our team and chances are you’ll end up finished before 7pm on weekdays but never later.

This is a rare opportunity with this lovely practice with the initial purpose for recruitment being maternity cover, however plan is to expand so decided to take on another permanent Vet to aid that.

Our ideal candidate will be 2 years+ qualified however if you have less please do not hesitate to apply as we very much believe in team culture and if you’d be great fit for the team then we’d be happy to consider a less experienced candidate.

Duties will include ● Routine consultations for all species including vaccinations and assessing and treating ill animals. This will involve sole charge. ● Routine surgeries including neutering and lumps removals. ● Less routine surgeries as they may arise such as pyometra, foreign body removal and splenectomy. ● Dental procedures including dental x-rays for all cats. ● Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as blood tests and x-rays. Ultrasound scanner only capable of basic exams eg bladder scan but have visiting ultrasonographer as needed. ● Checking medications for dispensing and organising destruction of controlled drugs. ● NAWT charity work - dentals and x-rays - all based in the clinic. ● Clinical supervisor for one nursing student who will be in second year

Salary to be discussed but starting at around £40,000 (pro rata’d if 3 days). Many benefits including RCVS fees paid, CPD encouraged and supported and many more.
