Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon

 

Salary: £60,000 (dependent on experience)

 

Location: St Boswells

 

Job Type: Permanent

 

Hours: Full-time - 4.5 days per week, 8:45 am - 5:00 pm as standard, 8:45 am - 1:00 pm on half days. On-call duty is 1 in 5 weeks, with a Friday off following a weekend on call.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

 

This is a unique opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their warm and family-oriented practice. They pride themselves on offering a good work-life balance and providing substantial on-the-job support for their colleagues. They are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly Companion Animal and Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon with excellent communication skills.

 

They seek a personable individual to join their close-knit team. While everyone shares responsibilities for surgeries and consultations, they value individual preferences and encourage special interests. Their management style is open and honest, and they regularly seek feedback from their associates to create the best working environment possible.

 

The Practise is a mixed practice with a solid farm base and a rapidly growing companion animal segment. The role will primarily focus on small animals, with farm on-call duties as part of the position.

 

Their main facility is well-equipped with DR x-ray, new ultrasound, dental x-ray, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, and multi-parameter monitoring equipment. They handle a growing orthopedic caseload and perform some advanced soft tissue procedures in-house.

 

Their purpose-built Large Animal unit features two Easi-scan ultrasound scanners, equipment for bull and tup fertility testing, and in-house hospitalization facilities, including a calf warmer. The large animal caseload is mainly beef and sheep, with minimal dairy work, and includes some camelids and goats. They offer pool cars for work-related travel, keeping your vehicle clean and odor-free.

 

Their out-of-hours service is well-supported, with a dedicated nurse on call alongside the vet. Their nurses are prepared to assist as needed, and they do not schedule routine weekend consultations.
