Job Overview:

A veterinary hospital in the Algarve is seeking a skilled General Practitioner Veterinarian to join their team. This position offers an opportunity to work with a leading provider of high-quality veterinary care for companion animals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver preventive care services.
  • Conduct thorough clinical examinations of animals and document their medical histories.
  • Handle consultations in internal and external medicine.
  • Manage emergency cases, including hospitalization and intensive care unit (ICU) patients.
  • Perform comprehensive diagnostic tests.
  • Utilize collected information from history taking, physical exams, and diagnostics to make accurate and effective clinical decisions.
  • Monitor and manage the care of hospitalized animals.
  • Establish treatment protocols and oversee ongoing care and follow-up.
  • Prescribe medications as needed.
  • Perform basic surgical procedures with proper anaesthesia, monitoring, and pain management.
  • Communicate treatment plans and costs to clients clearly.
  • Keep a daily record of case numbers.
  • Contribute to improving hospital efficiency.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns related to pet medical care.
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients.
  • Uphold high standards of integrity and ethical behaviour in all actions.
  • Supervise students in training programs.

To be Considered:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a hospital setting performing similar tasks.
  • Mandatory bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine.
  • Strong patient and owner focus.
  • Ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Action-oriented with strong decision-making skills.
  • Capable of planning and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Commitment to delivering results.
