Registered Veterinary Nurse - Maternity Cover

Location: London
Duration: From end-July 2024, initially 6 months (with potential for extension)

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a team to cover maternity leave. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a focus on surgery and medical nursing, alongside occasional nurse consultations. Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality surgical and medical nursing care to small animals.
- Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring.
- Conduct nurse consultations as required.
- Maintain patient records and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist with client communication and education on pet healthcare.


Schedule:

- Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm (one hour unpaid lunch break). Flexibility with hours is possible for candidates seeking less than 40 hours per week.
- One Saturday shift per month, 9am to 1.30pm (compensated with time in lieu or extra pay).


Requirements:

- UK RVN qualification preferred; consideration given to qualified veterinary nurses intending to sit their OSCEs.
- Minimum one year of paid work experience preferred; salary commensurate with experience starting at £30,000 for 40 hours per week.
- New graduates welcome; starting salary dependent on experience.
- Flexibility with hours is possible for candidates seeking less than 40 hours per week.

- 10 days annual leave (pro rata for 6-month duration) plus bank holidays and CPD allowance. Annual leave increases to 20 days per year for longer-term contracts.

The practice is a well-established small animal practice in SW London. Their team comprises three vets and three RVNs, supported by skilled veterinary care assistants and administrative staff. They pride themselves on providing compassionate care to a range of pets, including exotics such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.
