GVC are excited to be providing recruitment support to this well-established practice in Reading, who are actively seeking a Head RVN to join their forward thinking team.

They are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Head Veterinary Nurse to join the team. This role involves consultations, monitoring anaesthetics, inpatient care, laboratory work, and Schedule 3 procedures (training provided if needed). Additional responsibilities include infection control and participation in management meetings.


About You

They are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit. A solid background in patient care and a passion for nursing team development are essential. This role is crucial to the clinic's upcoming rebranding project, providing an exciting opportunity for involvement.


Flexible Work-Life Balance

They welcome both full-time and part-time applicants. Full-time positions typically involve 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with shifts from 8 am – 4:30 pm or 11 am – 7:30 pm. Saturday mornings are 1 in 4, with no out-of-hours work required. They value their nurses and offer flexible working hours to suit your needs, whether that means condensed hours, or shifts arranged around personal commitments.


The Practice

This first-opinion, small animal practice offers excellent public transport links to central Reading and London. The large, modern facility includes:

  • 4 consultation rooms
  • Dedicated digital x-ray and ultrasound room
  • Modern theatre and prep room
  • Separate cat and dog kennels
  • In-house laboratory
  • State-of-the-art equipment including a multiparameter monitor, Bair Hugger, and fluid warmers

The Team

The practice features two vets, supported by a dedicated team of clinical and non-clinical staff. The Head Vet is currently pursuing a post-graduate certificate in Surgery, backed by a significant surgical caseload. They focus on delivering high-quality patient and client care and are supported by a local veterinary hospital for overnight care, offering additional training opportunities such as diagnostic imaging.
