Buchan Vets (Strichen)

A great opportunity for a forward-thinking, ambitious vet to take on the Clinical Director role to lead our team at Buchan Vets. It is a farm and equine oriented rural practice in North Aberdeenshire, Scotland with our bases being in Strichen and Turriff.

The farm client base revolves mainly around beef suckler (commercial and pedigree) and beef finisher units with some dairy work. We have thriving pedigree and commercial sheep farms and an enthusiastic and receptive smallholder community. OV work is minimal with TB in a 4-year testing area.

Equine work is mainly ambulatory with a good quality range of diagnostic equipment and supported by a VN.

A candidate with experience and a clinical bias towards equine or farm would be accommodated. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own area of expertise such as equine reproduction, lameness or dentistry or advanced breeding in sheep and cattle. Certificate study funded if required.

In addition you would become part of a community of like-minded, pro-active clinical directors across our practices throughout the UK. Meet regularly online and face-to-face with leadership and management training events.

Have the chance to visit other practices in our group to learn and develop new ideas, alongside the autonomy to build the practice in the way that you feel can best service your clients.

The role is Full Time and includes on-call. Vets here work a 4-day week and the on call is shared evenly between the team working to an overall 1:4 rota.

Working Hours:

42 hours per week

Equal share of the on-call rota – currently 1 in 4

The workload mainly consists of first opinion beef and sheep work with some dairy and equine work.
