The Role

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic farm animal vet to join our friendly and supportive team here at Milan Veterinary Clinic, Douglas!

We are a well-established mixed practice and have a strong, large, animal database and massive potential to expand our services. This is a very exciting opportunity for someone with the drive and ambition to enhance our services and to take this side of the business forward.

We are flexible with the working rota and can offer 4 or a 5-day week. We do our own out of hours which is completely separate from the small animal and is one night per week with paid retainer and 1 weekend in 4 with paid retainer or TOIL. If the candidate had an interest in equine, then this would be encouraged but is not essential.

Salary for the role is up to £65,000 depending on experience.

Rota patterns that work for you

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

About Us

Come to the beautiful Isle of Man, an island 33 miles long by 13 miles wide in the middle of the Irish sea, between the UK and Ireland. We have 3 clinics, our main branch is in the capital Douglas, with the other branches in the south and the west. We have not got a northern branch, but this is not a problem as nowhere is more than half an hour away!

Whether you are single or coming with a family, the Isle of Man is a beautiful place to live, with lots of rural areas and a strong farming community. With easy access to beaches and open countryside, lovely restaurants and cafes, there is plenty to do. The Isle of Man is very multicultural with people having relocated here from all over the world. It is a welcoming place, and there is something for everyone, no matter what you enjoy.

There are also good connections by air and sea to the UK and Ireland, if you want to explore further afield. We also have the lowest crime rate in the British Isles. The Isle of Man is the only entire nation UNESCO Biosphere and has dark skies status. It is also home to the Manx Cat. There are lots of different sporting clubs and events, not least the island is probably most well known as the host of the famous Isle of Man TT Races. This motorcycle festival is held each year in early June and sees competitors racing on the islands 37.73-mile-long mountain course.

About the Team and Culture

We currently have 5 vets, consisting of 1 full time LA/EQ, 2 PT mixed vets and 2 FT SA vets. We have 8 versatile RVN’s, 4 FTE and 4 PT and we have an experienced support team of 16. We are a friendly, supportive bunch who are great at supplying everyone with lots of tea and coffee! We have a couple of keen bakers within our team that bring sweet treats in from time to time and we enjoy social nights out.

Applicant Requirements

Ideally, we would like a vet with one year plus experience, but we would be willing to consider anyone who is confident, driven, ambitious. Good all round farm animal knowledge and be versatile.
