The Role

Hungerford Vets are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our busy hospital based in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The job role offers a varied caseload of work within a large team of Vets and Nurses. The day-to-day duties include caring for inpatients, surgical nursing, anaesthesia, nursing clinics and much more.

Our Nurses currently work a 4-day week between 8:00am-6:00pm, with 1 in 6 Saturdays from 8:00am-4:00pm. We are a 24hr hospital and are proud to do our own out of hours. The right candidate would not be required to be on the out of hours, but to be occasional back up to those on call.

The salary will be up to £30,000 depending on experience.

About Us

Our clinic is a 24hr hospital with two theatres, four consulting rooms, an ultrasound room, imaging room with digital x-ray and endoscopy. We have a designated dental area with dental x-ray, and we have multi-parameters at every anaesthetic station.

We are proud to have a low staff turnover and have a team with a shared goal of patient care being their priority. We are a progressive practice who encourage CPD and sharing new ideas with each other to improve our overall standard of care and providing the best service we can as a team

Our team consists of 14 Vets, 15 Nurses and 12 Support Staff. Some of our Vets hold certificates in surgery, radiology, ophthalmology and emergency and critical care. We also have Nurses who hold certificates in anaesthesia, surgical nursing, and physiotherapy.

We regularly hold clinical meetings to discuss new ideas and share ways to improve our care and are focused on clinical best practice. We have a vibrant social life outside of work and regularly meet up for drinks, dinner, dog walks and much more!

The practice have links within the local community and provide educational events, undertake charity work within the area with donations recently going to local schools, as well as the wider veterinary community, focusing on mental health and the Vetlife charity.

Applicant Requirements

The successful applicant must be a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse. Training for the role will be provided. The most desirable skills are a good work ethic and the ability to work well within the team. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a busy team with an encouragement to continue to learn and develop, as well as provide excellent care to the patients in hospital.
