The Role    

This role is as a veterinary surgeon working alongside experienced specialist led clinicians, to help facilitate both excellent client and patient care. This is established within the clinical setting to provide a high quality surgical and medical service as well as emergency and critical care. To provide excellent client care to patients. To be professionally responsible within the veterinary setting and to be an ambassador for Swift Referrals and Emergencies. To build an excellent rapport with referring vets and partner practices. To be a Team member and support the nursing team. To provide this care in keeping with practice and group policies.  

Duties

• Coordination of patient care of the referral caseload with the referral clinicians.
• Monitor hospitalised patients on a regular basis and communicate information to the Nursing staff, checking all pricing communicated back to the client.
• Positively communicate to all clients on progress, results, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options and costs involved where required.
• Provide clients with a high standard of customer care and service.
• Scrubbing into surgery to assist the surgeons where needed.
• Performing ultrasound, radiography, and advanced imaging.
• Triage and stabilisation of emergency and critical cases, potentially requiring constant monitoring.
• Surgical emergencies for OOH cases.
• Consulting emergency OOH cases for local Practices for Swift Emergencies.
• Being available to be part of an on-call rota for the evenings and weekends (there is a night vet on duty every night and there would always be a referral clinician available for support for referrals and OOH cases).
• Comply with all policies relating to Health and Safety. 
• Follow and apply all IVC group and local protocols and policies as may be issued from time to time.

Rota 

4 days per week- 10 hours per day. 1:4 weekends OOH

About Us

We are a 98 staff referral hospital who provide OOH and emergency cover for 12 local practices. We also do referrals in Neurology, Othopaedics, Soft Tissue, Internal Medicine. Swift Referrals boasts a dynamic, loyal and supportive team. The hospital has fantastic equipment available including 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 Slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy and state-of-the-art operating theatres in a supportive hospital environment.

About the Team 

We have 20 vets, 49 nurses, 14 ACA's 12 client care staff and 3 support staff. We have a medical and soft tissue diplomats and surgery certificate holders

Applicant Requirements 

Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in a small animal practice. Ability to work alone and within a team, cope with busy caseload with a can-do, positive mindset.
