We are based in a beautiful rural country with 6 miles from historic Durham City and 20 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne and only minutes away from stunning countryside.

We have recently moved into a brand-new site, so this is a very exciting time to join us! Our brand-new practice has 3 consult rooms, 1 nurse/cat consult room, separate cat and dog waiting areas, in house pharmacy and state of the art prep room and theatre. See concept drawing below. We have onsite parking with electric car charging point.

We are looking for a full-time veterinary surgeon with good all round GP experience and confident with routine surgeries, who is able to work sole charge. You will be joining a small and friendly team, who are passionate about animal care.

We are a very experienced team of 2 Vets (total of 34 years of experience!), 4 RVNS (total of almost 30 years of experience), PCA, SVN, Reception and Practice Manager supporting us on a daily basis.

We have a vet who is working towards their medicine and surgery certificate; Our RVNs are very proactive with Schedule 3, with keen interest in clinics. We have a number of progression stories within the team starting from our PCA progressing from a Receptionist position to our Clinical Director working as a locum Vet and progressing to senior position followed by Clinical Director role.

Teamwork is important to us - We discuss cases frequently to ensure we get the best outcome for the patient. We call ourselves a good and supportive work family. We are a very friendly and well-organised practice; often do team building events together!

This can be either Full or Part time position. The working hours would be based on a 4-day week (between the hours of 8.30am to 6.30pm) and 1 in 3 Saturdays (9am-12pm) - there are no on-call duties, giving you a great work-life balance.

Our Benefits include:
  • Professional memberships funded (RCVS & VDS)
  • CPD and further studies encouraged - your learning and clinical growth is important to us!
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus Bank Holidays (or equivalent), plus the option to purchase an additional two weeks leave per year with our Buy/Sell holiday scheme
