The Practice:

GVC have been exclusively retained to provide recruitment support to a privately owned veterinary clinic based in Muscat, Oman. GVC are assisting with the recruitment of a veterinarian to join the employer on a permanent basis, with an immediate start date.

The practice has been offering veterinary services in Muscat for the past 8 years and are one of the leading veterinary clinics in the region. They are a full-service veterinary clinic, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries, Oman. Their veterinary care is provided 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Details of the role:

• Role type: Permanent
• Days working: Sunday – Thursday. (Saturday 1:2 with a day off in lieu)
• Hours: Full time, 9 hour shifts (8am-5pm or 10:30am-7pm)
• Specific salary details: 2000 – 2500 Omani Rials per month (approx. £5000 per month TAX-FREE)
• Team size: 3 Vets & 5 Nurses
• Details: 100% small animals, require a good all-rounder, GP Vet to join the team.
• Paid time off: 30 days

Applicant requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must have the following or clearly be able to demonstrate your suitability for the advertised position should your application not meet the employer requirements.

• Relevant veterinary qualification from an accredited university in the country of the advertised position.
• 5 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE)
• English language skills.
• Licenced to provide veterinary care in the relevant country.

Local Taxes:

Oman does not impose personal income tax on individuals, whether they are Omani citizens or expatriates. This makes Oman an attractive destination for many foreign workers..

While there is no personal income tax, Oman does have other taxes, such as corporate income tax, which applies to businesses operating in the country, and Value Added Tax (VAT), which was introduced in April 2021. VAT is an indirect tax levied on the consumption of goods and services, and in Oman, it is set at a standard rate of 5%.

In summary, you would not be subject to personal income tax if you were living in Oman. This would make the proposed salary on offer, even greater. For example to take home the approximate salary of £65,000 in the UK you would need to have a salary of approx. £95,000 per annum.
