The Role

Pool House Vets are looking for a dynamic Veterinary Surgeon to join their fantastic team. The successful candidate will work between our main hospital and our 3 branch practices. This role allows for a very varied caseload and mixture of consulting, surgery, and hospitalised patient management. We would be very keen to speak to anyone with an interest in surgery and who has experience with or would be open to learning laparoscopic surgical techniques. However, the role is not exclusively open to those with surgical bias and those with medical experience would also be welcomed.

We are happy to consider part-time and flexible working requests. Our OOH is covered by our own designated team but we are a 24-hour hospital and will require any candidate to partake in the weekend rota. There will be some lone working at our branches.

The salary for this role is up to £65,000 FTE depending on experience.

About Us

We are a small animal hospital based in beautiful Staffordshire. Lichfield is a fantastic central base to the rest of the UK, with Birmingham only a short drive/train journey away or Cannock Chase on our doorstep for those who prefer more of an outdoor pursuit. Our hospital is a modern, purpose-built premises offering 24hr patient care and emergency facilities, supported by 3 branch practices in Armitage, Burntwood and Mere Green. We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of patient care whilst working in a supportive and fun environment. We have recently been working towards a new rota, focused on improving work-life balance for our vets, this now includes a designated night team, better weekend support and more structured hours with appropriate time off in lieu. Our hospital offers the usual facilities of X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and a comprehensive lab, as well as laparoscopic and orthopaedic equipment.

About the Team and Culture

We are a team of 17 vets and 14 nurses with a large support team of receptionists and admin staff. We have certificate holders in anaesthesia, emergency medicine and imaging as well as a visiting dermatologist. We have a very strong team of medics which we are always looking to build further, but we are especially keen to grow the surgical side of the practice and would support a candidate looking to further develop this side of their work our pursue a surgical certificate.

Applicant Requirements

We feel this role would preferably suit an experienced candidate who is happy with some lone working at branches.
