Veterinary Surgeon - Derbyshire

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon role at a family-run independent practice in a lovely town situated in Derbyshire in the heart of The National Forest. There are so many parks, woodlands, and local walks to enjoy including the stunning Peak District National Park just 30 minutes away, and Twycross Zoo is just down the road. Birmingham is just 30 minutes away and there is easy access to the motorway network for travel all over the UK. There are also three international airports nearby: East Midlands, Birmingham, and Manchester airports.

Our client has been established in the area since 2015 and is dedicated to caring for animals and their owners by providing a complete veterinary health and wellbeing service. This purpose-built practice has amazing facilities including a separate cat friendly waiting area and cat ward, full range of dental equipment including dental x-ray, DR x-ray, ultrasound with doppler and in house laboratory. The next investment will be an endoscope. GP and rehab services are also fully integrated allowing for internal referral for acupuncture, hydrotherapy, laser therapy, physiotherapy, and therapeutic ultrasound. Canine Sports Medicine & Conditioning services are also offered.

You will be joining a supportive and friendly team comprising of 4 Vets (including a certificate holder in surgery and another with chronic pain management and acupuncture), 6 RVN’s, 2 physiotherapists, 6 receptionists and a practice manager who has worked in vet practices for over 30 years.

The ideal candidate will have veterinary experience in previous practices. You will need to have good communication skills, be a good team player and have a genuine passion for what you do.

Currently our client uses peripatetic orthopaedic specialists to refer on but would really love to offer orthopaedic surgeries in house and is happy to invest in the necessary kit to get this up and running. So, if you are passionate about surgery and have experience in orthopaedics, they would love to chat and hear your ideas about developing this service.

The Rota:
•    Full time – part time applications will be accepted
•    4 day working week
•    1:4 Saturday mornings (9am – 1pm)
•    No OOH or on call
