Are you a veterinary surgeon looking to work in a leading RCVS accredited small animal hospital? Look no further, Prospect Health are pleased to be working with exactly that, and have a fantastic opportunity for an experience veterinary surgeon. Situated within 10 minutes of Leeds City centre and within 30 minutes of Leeds Bradford Airport and the Yorkshire Dales, the location is perfect. This family run hospital was founded 10 years ago and has grown to over 70 members of staff during that time!

Despite the rapid growth, the founders have never lost sight of their focus of creating a fun, friendly and inclusive working environment where everyone genuinely enjoys coming to work. Its because of this that they were winners of 'Best Vets in the County 2022' at the VetHelpDirect's Best UK Vet Awards and were top 25 vets in the UK!

This already impressive tier 3 hospital is about to undergo further modernization and expansion due to be complete in early 2023. Once complete, it will house 7-consult rooms, 5 separate operating theatres, including separate orthopaedics theatre, dental theatre, advanced Imaging suit and much more. The refurb is designed with employee wellbeing at the forefront. It will be bright spacious, with plenty of breakout space for colleagues. In addition to all the excellent facilities you will have access to, you'll also enjoy a varied and interesting caseload with referrals taken from 15 nearby practices. Vet consultations are always 30 minutes and are for sick pets only and never routine vaccination etc, meaning no two days will be the same.

This role would suit someone with a specific interest in either orthopaedics, ophthalmology, or dermatology. But don't worry if that's not you, the hospital sees a whole range of cases and welcomes vets of all clinical backgrounds and interests. The hospital are exemplary when it comes to career progression and further education. As a result, you will work alongside certificate holders and advanced practitioners, many of which have been part of the team for years and have been supported through certificates funded by the hospital.

This role is full or part time. Full time is a 4-day week, 1-in-4 weekends, and no OOH (due to having a dedicated night team on site). The rota is made up of a mix of early shifts, late shifts and there is the option to do twilight shifts too if you enjoy ECC work! There is plenty of flexibility in the rota to fit around your out-of-work commitments.   • No sole charge work at all - always surrounded by certificate holders, advanced practitioners
  • Exemplary when it comes to training and investing in the staff. This has led to a very low staff turnover
  • 12+ Vets with multiple certificate holders.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be registered with the RCVS to practice in the UK
  • Ideally you will have 4+ years experience in small animal veterinary work, though less can be considered
  • Additional experience/qualifications in either Ophthalmology,
  • Dermatology or Orthopaedics highly desirable but not essential
