Full / Part time positions available.

Have you done 2-3 years plus Small Animal practice, and are now looking for the next step in your career or maybe simply a change of scene?

We are looking for SA vets to join us at our hospital in the heart of the New Forest. You will have all the clinical freedom and support to succeed in your clinical aspirations, whilst having the time off to enjoy living in a National Park area and a coastal location. The emphasis in our practice life is teamwork, and our team is everything.

We have an experienced team of 11 SA vet FTEs with multiple certificate holders / vets studying for certificates; and 21 VNs ensuring excellent VN support to the vets. We also provide an Ophthalmology referral service to the South of England and have a visiting Orthopaedic consultant as well.

The roles are based at the hospital and would suit someone with the experience to undertake more advanced surgical or diagnostic procedures, however, if you just want to be part of skilled and experienced team, in a busy dynamic practice that provides plenty of support that is fine too!

One of our fantastic vets Ann, relocated to Yorkshire last year, but here is what she had to say about working at Seadown.

‘ Working for Seadown was rewarding for me on many levels. When I arrived, one of the nurses described working there as being ‘like one big family'. I was initially sceptical, but it proved to be true. The entire team were committed to providing a high standard of client and animal care. I was allowed complete clinical freedom to investigate and manage cases. At the same time, the wide range of skills and areas of special interest amongst the vets meant that there was always the opportunity to discuss those challenging cases and to bounce ideas around when feeling a bit stumped.

The Directors recognise the importance of balancing the needs of the practice with the work: life balance of the staff to ensure they can function at their best. They were very willing to look at rota/hours that worked for me. They also took time to acknowledge and express their thanks for your contribution to the practice. Feeling that your efforts are not just noticed but appreciated means so much. Like any practice, it could be stressful at times, but there was a lot of laughter (and a lot of cake!). As a bonus, although not Yorkshire, the New Forest is a lovely place to live and work!'

And here is what Johnny thought about his two years with us during COVID, before taking up a position in a University Hospital.

Since graduation in 2020, I have worked as a full-time Veterinary Surgeon at Seadown. It has been a challenging but rewarding couple of years, that have allowed me to gain significant confidence and experience in the veterinary field. Seadown is blessed with an exceptional team of vets and nurses who are a joy to work with, and are always very supportive. As a place with a high case load and a wide variety of cases, it has been a brilliant place to learn and progress as there is almost always something interesting going on!

We do provide an OOHs service but to our clients only, and there is plenty of time off in lieu. Our RVNs are on site 24/7 for patient care and to answer the phones, so you are not expected to stay overnight.

The OOHs rotas are flexible in their patterns as we believe in the importance of a healthy work-life balance and are always looking at ways of improving things further.

We offer very competitive salaries, 25 days annual leave plus a further holiday buying scheme, RCVS, VDS and BSAVA membership fees, pet discount and most importantly a really friendly and supportive team to work with.

We are happy to consider both full time and part time candidates for this role, let us know what works for you! We are also more than happy to consider FTC candidates!

Please apply now or call for an informal chat on 02380842237 and ask for Gillies or Anna.

We look forward to meeting you!
