The Role
Here at Lockwood Veterinary Group, we are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Burton Vets in Burton Upon Trent. You will be working in sole charge alongside our experienced, friendly team of RVN's and support staff to perform a mixture of surgery and consultations in general practice. Just a few miles away is our Highland vets branch where the team of senior vets and nurses are on hand to provide additional support.
You will have 15-minute consults and clinical freedom to fully work up and manage your cases with friendly support available at all times. You will be actively encouraged to develop your skills and bring new ideas to the practice.
Typically this role would be full-time worked over a four-day week, between 9 am and 6:30 pm plus Saturday mornings from 9 am to 12:30 pm on a rota basis. No out-of-hours requirements will be needed for this role. – We would also welcome applications for those seeking a part-time or flexible working pattern, we want to make it easy for you to strike the right balance.
The salary is up to £65,000 FTE dependent on experience plus a fantastic welcome bonus of £2000 FTE.

About the Team and Culture
Lockwood group is made up of experienced Vets with interest/cert studying in surgery, medicine, and ophthalmology. We also have further cert holders in surgery, exotics, and imaging. Good ratio of RVNs also with cert holders in ECC, anaesthesia, feline nursing, and behaviour. We actively encourage certificates, offering funding, CPD and support to all our team members.
Our staff’s well-being is of great importance to us, we have a very approachable, supportive management team who support our team both inside and outside of the workplace. We endeavour to ensure that the practices have some downtime, whether it be closing the doors for a couple of hours for coffee and cake, a meal out or bowling. We work very closely with local charities and the community, sponsoring the town junior football team, visiting local schools to talk about working in a Vet practice and often hosting fundraising events from dog shows to coffee mornings in practice.
