Equestrian Veterinary Surgeon (REF: INT), Hong Kong Jockey Club

An excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon interested in sport medicine and rehabilitation to work in a unique, friendly, and supportive practice with superb infrastructure and transport links that allow easy access to Southeast Asia. 

The job is primarily ambulatory, with the ability to follow your cases through to completion with full hospital in-patient and advanced imaging facilities (MRI/CT/Scintigraphy).  Support from diploma holders in sports medicine, surgery, imaging, and medicine gives the opportunity to further develop skills and broaden perspective.  You will be encouraged to pursue areas of clinical interest and contribute to ongoing and future departmental research projects.

The Job:

You will work in the equestrian sector of our practice to assist in the:

• provision of high quality veterinary clinical services to the equestrian centres and riding schools within Hong Kong;
• rehabilitation and retraining of retired racehorses stabled at the Club’s Beas River Equestrian Centre, racing centres, and overseas partner farms;
• clinical support of equestrian sporting and FEI events in Hong Kong;
• occasional support of general veterinary-related services such as accompanying airport convoys.  

Qualifications and Requirements

• The successful applicant will ideally have undertaken an internship, or have 3-4 years of relevant experience, with an interest in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation. 
• Take pride in the provision of exceptional client care to a varied customer base who value a personal approach.
• Be a team player who anticipates and recognises the needs of others in the work-place, while making themselves available to assist and support team members, including the mentoring of more junior colleagues.
• Hold a degree eligible for registration with the Veterinary Surgeon’s Board of Hong Kong.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  An initial 3-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate.  Further contract renewal or conversion to career terms will be subject to mutual agreement between the Club and the individual.  Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
