At Vetfinders we are helping a practice in Somerset find their next hire. They have a new opportunity for a proactive, enthusiastic and experienced Vet to join their team at this Independent, small animal practice
Role
- Full Time, 3 days pw, 8.30am to 6.30pm (Tue/Thu/Fri, but can be discussed)

This independent practice provides excellence in all aspects of pet care. As a practice, they require an understanding, enthusiastic and patient team player. You must be confident and capable of carrying out all surgical and medical procedures.
There will be sole charge when on weekend duty and night on call, but will always have RVN on duty with you. Ideally you will be competent in sole charge whilst doing OOH cover, but we are a Vet GDP practice so a less experienced Vet can be mentored where necessary.

You will be free to workup and manage your own clinical cases and enjoy building your own client base, whilst benefitting from the support of our experienced team, with whom case discussion and collaboration are encouraged. The practice aspires to create an environment that offers clinical excellence combined with first rate patient and client care.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience is preferred but will consider less for a candidate with the right character, ability, and positive attitude.

- Excellent Interpersonal skills
- The ability to problem solve

The Practice
We are an independent, friendly, family run practice that feels that we are an integral part of our local community.
We cover our own OOH work which means we can hospitalise animals and follow on with continuity of care and no concerns about transporting to another site, plus gives a wider, more interesting caseload.
We are welfare orientated and competitively priced, but aim to provide a high level of service. Locums comment how welcoming we are.
We have set breaks within the rota for vets to do admin work and have lunch.
The Veterinary Director is a surgical certificate holder, so we do retain some more advanced surgical cases in house.
Currently, we have 3 Vets, 3 RVN's and 1 part time VCA. We have a team of 1 full time and 4 part time receptionists.
This is a great chance to be involved in an independent practice surrounded by a motivated supportive team helping you to do the work you are trained to do.

Company
VetFinders is a recruitment business with a social mission at its heart. We are more than a recruitment business whose only aim is to make a profit, this isn’t us! We aim to make a profit of course we do but we work with a number of charities giving back to the industry we love. Giving is at the heart of our business, we work with the local college Askham Bryan sponsoring two nurse students through their studies, have worked with Street Vet advertising their roles for free, donate to a local charity helping disabled and life limiting children with animal therapy and work with Blue Cross. When we place candidates in a new role we donate enough to pay for a Blue Cross nurse for the day. ‘A dream job for you, a Blue Cross Nurse paid for too.
