Job Details

Gateshead Vets4Pets are looking for a vet to join our friendly, family-owned practice. We are growing and are looking at what we can offer and how we can bring more people into our family. We know that sometime in the next 12 months we will have a decision to make: either stop taking on new clients or, preferably, expand our team and we want to find the right person to join us in this.

About us:
We are a friendly & supportive team of 2 vets, 2 RVNs, experienced support team and practice manager Mark. Our vet team, who have over 30 years' experience between them, are led by Veterinary surgeon and JVP Sam. Special interests include acupuncture and imaging, and we would love to add, and can support, any additional interests our new team member may have. This is also made possible due to the fantastic, loyal and committed client base we have built over the past 6 years providing the interesting and varied caseload you would expect in a busy general practice.

We know working in a Veterinary practice and juggling life can be demanding which is why we always have our team's wellbeing in mind. We work with our team to ensure we are family friendly and flexible with the whole team involved in ensuring we provide a high level of patient care and customer service. We hold regular clinical meetings to make sure everyone has their say in the way we do things and have recently got together to outline our values as a practice to ensure everyone has the workplace they want. We are:-
- Passionate: We are passionate about veterinary medicine.
- Compassionate: We are compassionate about every member of our team, each client, and every pet with which we have the privilege of working.
- Connected: We endeavour to make personal connections and build open and honest relationships with our team, our patients and our clients.
- Collaborative: We focus on collaboration and personal growth so we can consistently provide exceptional experiences to each other, our patients and our clients.
- Supportive: We treat every team member, pet and owner with respect and dignity as we support their journeys.

We are based in Gateshead on a busy retail park just off the A1. The practice is just a short journey from Newcastle city centre by road or public transport giving great accessibility to shops, schools, and any other local amenities you may need. Newcastle city airport is also withing easy travelling distance as are the beautiful beaches of the Northeast and Northumberland coastline.

The Role:
We can accommodate full (37.5hours/week) or part time hours with 1 in 3 Saturdays (9 - 6pm) and no OOH as this is covered by a local referral hospital. We offer a fully flexible rota to allow for your individual commitments- whether its childcare, a hobby or something else, each of our team members has a personalised rota. Saturdays are consults only and we are closed Sundays. Whilst Saturdays are sole charge there is always someone at the end of the phone to lend advice or support.

During the week our day to day consists of consults and surgery and while we would love to find someone happy to do both we would consider a consult-only role. Consult length is 20+ minutes with nurse support. You will enjoy complete clinical freedom and whether you are an experienced vet wishing to focus on a specific interest, a more recent graduate wanting to build a broad range of experience or anything in between - we have the caseload to support this.

We have experience support New Graduates, overseas Vets and people returning from an extended break from practice. We would be happy to consider a New or recent Graduate and have an excellent support and mentoring structure with in the practice which would be tailored to your needs.

Benefits:
• Unlimited CPD
• Flexible working rota - full (37.5hr/w) or part time.
• Salary negotiable (from £34K up to £60k+ for a certificate holder)
• Professional fees covered (RCVS/VDS/BVA etc)
Visa sponsorship funded
• Help with relocation costs

• Private Health Care
• Pension
• Cycle to work scheme
• Discount at Vet4Pets, Pets at Home and the groom room plus access to Our reward Hub giving discounts across a range of retailers

Please contact Mark, our Practice Manager mark.sauer@vets4pets.com to arrange an informal chat. We would love to meet you, show you around our practice and give you the chance to meet our team.
