The Role

Here at Sundean Veterinary Group we are looking for a good all-round clinician, who enjoys consulting and operating, although we can accommodate someone who is more biased towards consulting. The candidate will be involved in managing routine surgical cases, occasional in-patients and seeing consultations each day.

We can look at a very flexible approach to the rota as we have two other Vets who are very happy to work different shift patterns. This might be a standard 4-day week or a combination of earlier and later shifts. There is a Saturday Vet rota which is 1 in 4 and the hours are 9-4pm. There is no on-call as we use an out of hours provider in Gloucester who is very reliable and do a great job with our clients.

The salary for this role will be up to £63,000 depending on experience.

About Us

Sundean are a 3-clinic group, and each site is stand alone with its own equipment, staff and facilities. Each practice has its own in-house lab, dental x-rays, x-rays and ultrasound. There is experienced management of the practice and an emphasis on accommodating and supporting staff as much as possible. We have really good staff retention and many staff have been with us for several years. The location is a beautiful rural town on the banks of the Severn. The countryside is stunning and unspoiled and is ideal for running, biking, canoeing and dog walking and many other outdoor activities. There is good access to Bristol, Cardiff and Gloucester and there is a train station in Lydney. The stunning AONB the Wye Valley is just a few miles up the road.

We have a total of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, 10 Receptionists and a Practice Manager. One of our Vets has a cert in Ophthalmology and another working towards a cert in Diagnostic Imaging. We have a visiting specialist ultrasonographer and orthopaedic surgeons. We are a genuinely lovely team who are passionate about our job and supporting each other. It is a real pleasure to work here. The team volunteered to give up their Sunday recently to neuter rabbits for a local charity led by a local hero. Our clients love coming in to chat to us and enjoy the atmosphere and the care they receive.

Applicant Requirements

We could accommodate a new graduate as we have experienced staff in place, but the position would also be suited to a more experienced Vet. We love welcoming new members of staff and finding out how they can become part of our team.
