Job summary
We have two exciting opportunities available to work as a Veterinary Advisor for Animal Welfare. This is a nationally advertised vacancy and you can be based out of any of the APHA offices. You will be asked to state your preferred location on the application.
The post-holder will play a pivotal role in provision of veterinary advice regarding animal welfare to policy makers and in working with APHA operational staff to promote the two-way flow of information. Veterinary Advisors (VAs) will work closely with the Veterinary Head of Animal Welfare, other VAs, policy colleagues and colleagues in the wider advice team.
Post holders can be based at any APHA location within GB (i.e. England, Scotland, and Wales) but must be able to regularly travel to other locations to meet business needs.
Job description
The VA is accountable for working with the veterinary leads of the knowledge forums and others to deliver excellence in expert veterinary and scientific welfare advice. The VA will support the development and implementation of veterinary and public health policies and measures.
The VAs will carry out duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post. These will include, but not limited to the following:
- Leadership and managing change.
- Resilience and risk management.
- Service delivery (where appropriate these will be delivered in partnership with other VAs and GVSs).
- Stakeholder management.
- Rotas.
