Job summary

We have two exciting opportunities available to work as Veterinary Advisor's for the One Health Advice team. This is a national vacancy and you will be able to work form any of our APHA offices, a list of our locations can be found here.

We require individuals who can provide credible veterinary expertise and leadership to develop and implement policy and assure high performance in a multi-disciplinary team. The Veterinary Advisor (VA) is accountable for working with others as part of the One-Health network, delivery partners and stakeholders to deliver policy objectives and ensure excellence in veterinary and technical evidence and advice, stakeholder engagement and customer service.

Post holders can be based at any APHA location within GB (i.e. England, Scotland, and Wales) but must be able to regularly travel to other locations to meet business needs. 

Job description

This is a permanent posting. The post-holder will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of government policy, principally in the control of zoonotic diseases, through the provision of veterinary and technical advice and expertise. 

The post holder will work closely with the Veterinary Heads of Field Delivery (VHFD), Veterinary Advisers Field Delivery (VAFD) and Veterinary Advisors (VAs) as part of a virtual GB-wide operational service delivery network. 

The post holder will need the ability to operate at the strategic, tactical and direct delivery level in the effective development, application, assurance and enforcement of veterinary public health policies and measures in the area of Zoonoses and Reportable Diseases.
