Exciting teaching opportunity in Clinical Farm Animal Management at The Royal Veterinary College.

We have an exciting opportunity in the Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences for a Teaching Fellow in Clinical Farm Animal Management.

Competence in animal management, handling and the development of key clinical farm skills underpins our ability to produce capable veterinary graduates. For this reason, we are looking to recruit a teaching fellow to contribute to both our pre-clinical and clinical teaching in Farm Animal Management.

The successful applicant will form a key component of the team that is responsible for the practical teaching and assessment of veterinary students across all five years of our BVetMed Veterinary degree and associated courses and will work closely with other staff in the Farm Animal Health and Production Group.

This position will primarily focus on the teaching and development of clinical farm skills. The successful applicant will be involved in a range of practical farm animal teaching across multiple settings. The position would suit a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS or eligible for MRCVS) with a desire to teach clinical farm skills and contribute to the development of the next generation of production animal veterinarians.

This appointment will involve practical teaching of students at the RVC Boltons Park Farm and also other farms as appropriate within our network of collaborative teaching partners (local practices and off-site teaching locations). In addition to practical teaching, the successful candidate will also contribute to lectures and small group classroom teaching within other areas of the farm curriculum as appropriate. Previous teaching and assessment experience within a clinical farm setting would be an advantage.

The position will be based at the RVC Hawkshead Campus in Hertfordshire but will also involve some occasional teaching at other campus locations.

Prospective applicants wishing to discuss this position informally are encouraged to contact the Head of the Farm Animal Health and Production Group, Dr.Richard Booth, on +44(0)1707 666 211 or Email: rbooth@rvc.ac.uk

The RVC values diversity and is committed to the equality of opportunity. Balancing both the needs of the business with those of our staff, we will consider applications to work on a flexible basis where possible.

The closing date for applications is 16/02/2023
