You will be part of a 6 vet team across 3 clinics in Cardiff all within ten minutes' drive of each other. There is no expectation to work sole charge. The Cardiff hub has a full and fantastic team of RVNs, SVNs, PCAs and receptionists to support. We are looking for a passionate vet who enjoys working as part of team. We can support any applicants, especially those looking to improve their dentistry and soft tissue surgical skill set through mentoring and teaching from our advanced practitioner.

We prioritise wellbeing and staff development through monthly vet meetings, quarterly clinical discussions and whole team meetings and social events and actively encouraged CPD with a negotiable per head budget depending on your interests.

We aim to put client service and excellent clinical standards at the heart of everything we do.

The practices:

One of our sites offers separate cat and dog waiting and consulting rooms. We offer laparoscopic bitch spays and are continually investing in new kit for the team including the second purchase of a new ultrasound scanner with a range of probes, an endoscope and digital dental X-ray.

We also have comprehensive in house lab set-ups at each site.

  • If working a 5 day week, the end of day finish time is either 16:30/17:00 depending on start time. The half day shifts are 08:30-12:30.
  • 1 in 6 Saturday mornings consulting from 09:00-14:00 alongside an RVN, PCA and a receptionist. Time given back in lieu or overtime paid.

General Day Setup:
  • Shift patterns are 08:00-18:30 or 08:30-19:00.
  • 08:00 start for surgical vet and RVN to admit inpatients.
  • Consultations in one hour blocks with 15 minute standard consultation time and 15-30 minute break in between each block.
  • Half an hour consult routinely given where needed- multiple issues/ second opinion/ dermatology case etc.
  • Two Emergency / book on day consults at each site for each consult column.
  • 1 hour break over lunch which includes 30 minutes lunch break and catch up time as needed.
  • Consults finish 30-45 minutes prior to end of day.
  • Surgical vet operating from 08:00-13:00, 1-2 hours prior to afternoon consultations.

The Team:

We are a Vet GDP approved practice and along with our clinical lead offer excellent support to young vets wishing to gain supported experience and exposure to cases.

We have an advanced practitioner in dentistry and soft tissue surgery who is happy to mentor those with an interest in these areas.

The veterinary team is currently made up of individuals with clinical interests including medicine, imaging and feline medicine.

Outside of work the team members enjoy everything from sailing, dungeons and dragons, salsa dancing and baking.

Location:

The three practices are located along the beautiful South Glamorgan coast, so you can experience city life and get out and explore the amazing scenery all from this highly recommended area!

For those considering relocation to beautiful South Wales, we can organise pet friendly accommodation whilst you find your new home.

There is also the opportunity to develop a long-term career with future opportunities within our large national group. We want our members of staff to develop and progress and in turn so will our practices.

  • Option to purchase additional 2 weeks annual leave
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

We know that benefits are key, and that your personal benefits priorities will differ from others. Holidays, pensions, discounts, paternal leave, fee payments or share save schemes might be your priority. Flexible working is essential for others, and we are very open to finding a creative working pattern that suits. For clinical staff, CPD is probably critical. Just so you know we offer a wide range of amazing CPD – you'll have access to Knowledge Hub, the best online veterinary learning resource within the industry - and we also offer an allowance to spend on external courses too. If you'd like to learn more, do feel free to contact the recruiter managing this campaign and ask them to talk you through our offerings.
