New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon

Swaffham Veterinary Centre, Swaffham

Starting salary £34,000 rising to £37,000 in year two

Swaffham Vets have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team. You will have access to a surgical caseload alongside a consulting rota, with the support of our very experienced team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, as well as a surgical certificate holder.

Kick-start your career at Swaffham Veterinary Centre

We understand how important the start of your career is. That’s why we can put tailored training in place to ensure you get off on the right foot. We will ensure you have access to new graduate CPD that we will build into your daily schedule. Initially, there will be no sole charge required. You will have a dedicated mentor that will shadow you for the first six months, allowing you to gain confidence enabling you to flourish.

Support from our experienced team

We pride ourselves on the excellent support we can offer. Two of our Vets hold surgical certificates, and our Lead Vet holds a Veterinary business certificate – perfect for learning and development. We are a very close-knit team and actively encourage case discussion across the practice, there will always be someone to lend a helping hand should you need support. We work closely with an independent rescue centre, fundraising and collecting donated food for the many rescue animals that live there. We offer every member of our team a day off each year to work at a charity of their choice, or a cause close to their heart.

Work life balance that works for you

At Swaffham Veterinary Centre, our full time Vets typically work a 4 day week. 3 out of the 4 days are 8.30am – 5pm with one day 8.30am – 6.30pm. 1 in 5 Saturday mornings are required, but there is no out of hours. However, our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours means we can fix or flex the shifts to suit you. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance.

 About Us

We are a busy, small-animal practice dedicated to providing the best possible first opinion care for the pets of Swaffham and surrounding areas. Swaffham is ideally placed for a short drive to either Cambridge or Norwich and the nearby station at Downham Market has fast trains to London if the city life is for you. However, a twenty-minute drive north will take you to the beautiful North Norfolk coast if you are looking for somewhere more peaceful.

We are lucky to have built a fantastic reputation in the community by going that extra mile for our patients. We have all the usual facilities, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment, etc plus an extremely spacious building to house it all in.
