If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team at PetMedics, as Deputy Head Nurse, to provide gold standard patient care in both wards and theatre at their RCVS accredited Small Animal Veterinary Hospital. This could be a new opportunity for someone who is looking to progress to the next level in their career, or equally be a role where you have had previous experience in management.

PetMedics is a large 24-hour veterinary hospital, staffed by a truly superb clinical team of 37 Veterinary Surgeons, 37 RVN's and 17 PCA's, all committed and able to offer the best possible level of care to our patients. We have a large waiting room (and separate cat waiting room) and our facilities include - 4 theatres, 6 consulting rooms, intensive care unit, digital X-ray, CT scanner, ultrasound scanner, endoscopy, laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation, and in-house laboratory (including blood gases).

You will work closely with Head Nurse in operational duties as required and play an active role in driving and teaching clinical excellence amongst the nursing team.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • To support, on a daily basis, the Head Nurse, in the leading of the nursing team
  • You will be responsible for the line management of your own team with the support from the Head Nurse
  • Be responsible and accountable for leading the nursing team in the absence of the Head Nurse
  • To work as an active member of the clinical support team
  • To fully participate in the Nursing rota as directed by the Head Nurse
  • To provide the highest standards of client service and patient care (including out-patient care) for clients whilst adhering to the CVS behavioural framework


This is a full-time role over 4 days per week and will include 1 in 4 weekends (averages 40 hours per week).

We are offering an attractive salary of £25k - £35k, dependent on experience and length of qualification, plus a £3000 Joining Bonus!
