Clinical Director required at Shipley and Idle Veterinary Centre, Shipley

The Role

Shipley and Idle Vets are looking for a Clinical Director to lead our friendly team. We have a varied caseload, and no two days are the same. We are big on preventative healthcare, high standards of care, great customer service and client continuity. We want to make sure that you have time to follow up on cases and spend more time with your patients, so we run 15-minute consultations and we protect admin time and breaks.

A full-time role would involve covering 40 hours per week over 4 weekdays (08:30 – 19:00), along with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings covering consults only (09:00 – 12:00). We believe that to be happy and successful at work you need to have a work life balance that works for you and as such we are happy to consider part time or flexible hours

As the Clinical Director you will work closely with the practice manager and head nurse to create an inclusive, professional and happy working environment as well as ensuring the smooth running of the practice. You will have the full support of the area director and area support managers.  You will also receive peer support from fellow clinical directors in the area and regular opportunities to network.

What can Shipley offer you?

  • A salary of up to £75,000 (pro rata) depending on experience
  • A welcome bonus of up to £5000 (pro rata)
  • Relocation support of up to £5000
  • Tailored support and continued professional development to ensure you are set up for success in this next adventure

About Us

We have an amazing team, lovely clients and are also based in a fantastic location. We are only 15 minutes by train to central Leeds, yet woodland walks and the Yorkshire Dales are on our doorstep. Work/life balance highly rated! Our main practice is situated less than a mile from the picturesque World Heritage site of Saltaire which has many lovely shops, restaurants/ cafes and large parks as well as the stunning Salt Mills, a former textile mill that now houses an amazing gallery. There are also good rail and bus links to the cities.

At the practice we see a mixture of routine and preventative work, as well as interesting medical and surgical cases. We provide first opinion care to small animals and work up our cases to the highest standard. We are very proud to also work with a local hedgehog charity. The practice itself is an extremely well-equipped site. You’ll have access to a brand new state of the art ultrasound machine suitable for both abdominal and cardiac studies, Digital X-ray, Endoscopy both flexible and rigid, laparoscopy and much more! We can even offer accommodation until you find your feet in the local area, this a small self-contained flat above the practice.

About the Team and Culture

We offer a friendly and welcoming team environment, where we fully support each other and enjoy our working days together. Our fantastic team is made up of Vet Surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, VCAs and Receptionists. Our vets frequently talk about the incredible support they receive from the nurse and reception teams. We truly think our team is our greatest asset.

We always have a dedicated mental health first aider on shift, which means there’s always someone to talk to. We’re a very social bunch at Shipley, we like to meet up for meals and social drinks. We pride ourselves on our supportive and non-judgemental culture in practice, 4 of our staff members have been with us for almost 20 years!

Here's what the team have to say about life at Shipley:

“Shipley Vets and the team have been nothing but great to work for and with. As a locum vet I was welcomed in by not only the staff but also the clients, quickly becoming a part of the family (even had a leaving party after my first maternity cover!). You will find friendly advice and support from not only management but also the experienced receptionists, nurses and vets. A great environment to be your own vet and make your own mark but also be part of a bigger team and bounce ideas off. Look forward to my locum stints when required.” Ryan Lotter – Veterinary Surgeon

“I started at Shipley Vets not long after qualifying as an RVN. I was welcomed into the team and over the years (nearly 20!) I have progressed in my career. I am very proud of the high standards of care we offer and how we all work together to ensure we are doing the very best for our patients. The practice has also adapted to ensure that work/life balance is achieved and this has been so important to me, having a young family. I am looking forward to many more happy years with great colleagues.” Lisa Powell – Practice Manager

Applicant Requirements
