VETERINARY SURGEON - PERMANENT, FULL OR PART TIME

MALDON, ESSEX

An opportunity has arisen at Maldon Vets4Pets for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team! Our practice is now seven years old, and is still growing rapidly, providing an interesting and varied case load, alongside a friendly and loyal client base.

You will be joining a lovely onsite team including our Practice Manager who is also a qualified and experienced RVN, friendly and attentive receptionists, proficient RVNs, and Patient Care Assistants available for support. We also work very closely with our sister practice based in Braintree, where our JVP is based. We hold a variety of interests within our team, including soft tissue surgery, rabbit and exotic small mammal medicine - We are currently preparing to apply for Rabbit-Friendly and Cat-Friendly status to ensure that we are providing exceptional care for our patients. We welcome vets who have their own area of interest and we provide lots of CPD and support in any areas of further development.

We are a small, but busy practice based inside a busy Pets at Home store at Wycke Hill Business Park in Maldon and offers lots of free onsite parking. Maldon itself is situated on the Blackwater estuary in Essex and is one of the oldest recorded towns in this region. Our location makes us well connected transport-wise being just a 15 minute drive to Chelmsford, 1 hour from London by train, and a 45 minute drive to Stansted Airport.

Our practice is purpose built with state of the art equipment such as digital X-ray, ultrasound, in house lab facilities, and we are preparing to acquire further equipment to enable us to advance our levels of patient care, such as a multi-parameter to include capnography and ECG. We are always reviewing and collaborating on areas of potential improvement within our practice and facilities, and welcome input from all our staff on this.

We are seeking an experienced vet who is confident in consulting and all routine surgical and medical cases. Any areas of special interest are encouraged and will be happily supported; our caseload truly is varied and clinical freedom is encouraged alongside a strong level of support from colleagues and a core value of quality care for our patients. We have a loyal and invested client base, and so good consulting and communication skills are a huge positive. We engage with our clients and patients, from door to diagnosis!

Our typical working week is 40 hours across 4 weekdays and 1 in 3.5 weekends, with flexible time dedicated to admin, inpatient care, and a well-deserved cup of tea! Our last appointments finish 30 minutes in advance to ensure we're able to finish on-time. Our weekday hours are 9am-7pm, and our weekend hours are 9am-6pm Saturday, and Sunday 10am-4pm. We offer an early finish on the week following a weekend shift, so this allows for a good work-life balance.

This is a full time role, but we will consider part time applicants and there are no OOH responsibilities as we are a Vets Now partner practice.

In return, we offer:

• Excellent career opportunities and development due to the varied case load

• Competitive salary dependent upon experience

• 5.6 weeks holiday, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years services

• Contributory pension scheme

• Generous CPD and funding of certificates for the right candidate

• Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)

• Childcare vouchers

• Exclusive company discounts and rewards
