How does working with a fully engaged, enthusiastic team in a ‘Gold accredited flexible working' practice sound?

Leeds Vets4Pets are looking for an additional Veterinary Surgeon. We are an easy-going social bunch lucky to be located in North East Leeds on the edge of Yorkshire's beautiful Golden Triangle, easily commutable from York, Leeds and Sheffield.

You will be an integral part of a thriving, efficient and supportive practice with a highly skilled close-knit team of 19, including 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 RVNs, 4 SVNs, and 1 VCA. There is a real family-feel to the team with 2 partners working on-site. It's also really important to us that our team have the work-life balance that is important to them as individuals and are proud to have just been accredited as a ‘Gold accredited flexible working practice,' by Flexee.

‘We are extremely proud to have been awarded a Gold standard flexible working place through the Flexee scheme for both our practices. It wasn't something that we initially set out to achieve but as a rapidly growing practice we've taken a more flexible and inclusive approach to recruitment and retention over the last 5 years. This has led to a much lower colleague turnover rate.

Flexible working practices in the veterinary profession are widely misunderstood. From the way we see it, it means different things to different people at different stages of their professional career. We are happy to look at and accommodate contract changes for our staff, whether it be before signing or at any other point in time whilst they are with us. The flexibility also allows our team to attend the inevitable last minute medical appointments or childcare changes that come with balancing normal day to day life with a highly prescriptive work-place based career.

We aim to help all our team achieve the work life balance that they desire and need, whether it be working around childcare, co-existing interest's or a desire to work part time hours. We don't fit our new starters into a pre-existing rota but look to work the existing rota around them, so it mutually benefits both the practice and the colleague to make it more sustainable.' David, JVP, Leeds and Leeds Colton Vets4Pets

The reason for a new team member is that we are growing and want someone to grow with us. A new starter has so many opportunities to influence how we develop and to bring the great elements from their previous experiences, whilst sculpting the business to avoid pitfalls noted elsewhere. Change is good when we are making the changes ourselves and we are not afraid of trying new things.

The positions offered is anywhere from 20 hours up to and including a maximum of 40 hour week, one in 4 Saturday's (9-4pm) with no on call or OOH. We are happy to work with you to get the rota that works for you. The rota is currently completed up to the end of 2023, as we know planning and living your life is just as important as your vocation.

We offer a very competitive package (with remuneration depending on experience).

We actively invest in people's skill development and encourage continuous learning and will financially support your continued development.

Other benefits
• Excellent colleague discount on pet treatments and products including 20% discount at Pets at Home
• Holidays starting at 5.6 weeks, increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years
• Paid VDS, RCVS,BVA and other professional fees if needed
• Pension scheme
• Life insurance (4 times salary)
• Recommend a friend scheme
• No OOH

The successful candidate should have great communication and organisation skills and take pride in working to a high standard with patients, clients and team members. You will have an interest in and want to learn about the practice as a business as well as how to motivate a team to achieve their personal and practice goals.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding healthcare, exceptional customer service and would like to join our team or have a chat about the position then please do not hesitate to contact us.
