We have an exciting opportunity available at our Award Winning Vets4Pets surgery in Paisley Phoenix for a Registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Salary up to £30K
  • Full time (35-40 hours), part time considered for right candidate
  • 1 in 4 weekends, no OOHs
  • Relocation package available if required
  • CPD encouraged and funded

You will be joining practice owner and Veterinary Surgeon, Alemu Shawakena and his passionate, close-knit team made up of 4 part time vets, 1 RVN, 2 VCAs, and experienced support team led by practice manager Veronica who is also a Mental Health First Aider. Alemu our Practice Principle enjoys orthopaedics and has 5 years critical care and emergency experience. Julian our Clinical Director grew up in Hong Kong and worked in Windsor for 5 years before moving to Scotland. He loves small furies so we often see referrals from local practices owing to this.

Voted Practice of the Year 2019, we have recently expanded the surgery which now includes a dedicated nursing consult room for our RVN team and we are the only Vets4Pets surgery in Scotland to have the Companion Litecure CTX-IQ laser. We are always looking to build on the responsibilities of our nursing team including schedule three procedures and hold monthly 1 to 1s to ensure everyone has the support they need at work.

‘I have been with Paisley Phoenix Vets 4 Pets for going on 5 years. I started with my VCA placement where I was a very shy individual. I went on to do my Vet Nursing there for 3 years. The team were amazing and supported me throughout my time there where I have become a much more confident person. I have been very lucky to have this team behind me during my placement in first year vet nursing. At the start of second year I was asked if I would like a job, of course I said yes, which allowed me to become the great nurse I am today. During my time at Paisley Phoenix I have enjoyed building close bonds with the team and having met some amazing clients with their pets. I also am very passionate about physiotherapy which was great when the practice got the laser machine. It was great to build bonds with clients and seeing a positive progression with the cases. In December this year I was offered a job at the equine hospital and I am able to pursue my passion of equine physiotherapy. The team were so happy for me as they knew this is where I wanted to end up in my career. I am forever grateful for the opportunities that Paisley Phoenix have given me and still support me in my new employment.'

Personal development is extremely important to us and we work closely with our individual team members to help them achieve what they want in their job and progress in the areas important to them. The ethos at our practice is one where we work hard and look out for one another with the team's well-being a priority.
‘I have worked at Paisley Phoenix Vets4Pets for a few years and met an amazing bunch of people on my journey here. Phoenix has taught me so much and made me the nurse I am today with help from some wonderful clients, some challenging cases and an amazing team to work alongside. Being a busy practice with a wide case load has helped my confidence grow and my skills develop immensely.

It will sadden me greatly to leave such a brilliant team behind but do look forward to a new adventure in a veterinary hospital to further use my skills and hopefully gain even more new skills as well.
I can't thank Phoenix enough for their support coming here as a newly qualified nurse and helping me grow. I've made trusting relationships with many clients and their pets seeing some of them on a regular basis for repeat visits and feeling like I am making a great impact for both our clients and their beloved pets' lives. I have also made some phenomenal relationships with colleagues past and present whom I will keep in touch with even after my departure from Phoenix and look forward to doing the odd locum shifts to keep in touch with everyone'

Emma, RVN

We enjoy team socials every 3-4 months, making time to socialise with each other out of work and, given there is a local pizzeria close to the practice, host pizza lunches in practice as well. In the next few months, we are also looking forward to working with ‘Pet Blood Bank,' helping to further support veterinary care in our local community.
This role is a full-time role (35-40 hours per week) with 1 in 4 weekends. We will consider part time hours for the right candidate. We are ideally looking for a nurse who is a clinical coach or has experience teaching and/or mentoring. You will not be required to work any weekends and the role will be a mix of consults and theatre work with no OOHs.
Our practice is based in Paisley, just 10 mins from Glasgow city centre and close to Glasgow Vet School. As we are based in a retail park we benefit from excellent transport links and availability of local amenities.

We offer an excellent benefits package including:

• Salary up to £30K (DOE)
• Career development opportunities and support
• An extra day off for your birthday
• Paid Memberships (RCVS, VDS etc)
• Exclusive company discounts and rewards
• An extra day off on your birthday
• Paid CPD
• Relocation package (where applicable)
