The Role

Here at Darley House, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Director to join our wonderful team.

This is a full-time or part time position, working a 20–40-hour week with 1 in 3 Saturdays (09:00 - 12:00) and no out of hours.

This role involves working alongside our Practice Manager overseeing the general running of the practice along with a substantial amount of clinical work time operating and consulting.

You will be responsible for practice leadership and for the efficient and profitable provision of clinical care, liaising with IVC Evidensia business support and networking with your fellow Clinical Directors within the group.

Mentoring and coaching of less experienced veterinary surgeons is also an important part of this role. For the right candidate, this could be the perfect opportunity to mould our team to support your own vision of the practice.

What’s on offer?

  • A salary of up to £75,000 depending on experience
  • Up to £5000 for relocation support and a £3000 welcome bonus (pro rata)

The opportunity to be responsible for the growth and continued success of the practice. The chance to work for a practice that prides itself on maintaining welfare of all of it’s staff. A close-knit friendly team that sees itself as more of a family!

About Us

Darley House Vets has the reputation of being a friendly and competent practice that has been in Farnworth for over 70 years, accruing many longstanding clients and members of staff. We have created a pleasant working environment for both employees and clients.

We are a well-equipped Small Animal practice with our own in-house lab containing the latest Idexx blood and Sedivue analysers. We have an operating theatre, a very good ultrasound machine with colour doppler and digital radiography.

We are a 3 Veterinary Surgeon team, but we are hoping to expand to 4 Veterinary Surgeons. Our veterinary team are supported by 5 fully qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses, a team of 6 Veterinary Receptionists and our superb Practice Manager.

We have no specialists in practice but there are many locally which we refer cases to when appropriate. We support several local charities including Destitute Animal Shelter, Pets in Need, Kitty Rescue, Westie Rescue and Barking Berry’s.

We take staff wellbeing extremely seriously, you’ll have access to a dedicated mental health first aider, as well as a Wellbeing champion at all times. We’re a very social bunch!

There’s always something going on outside of work. We’re due to go bowling next week. Also, we have to mention our yearly Christmas party/meal, it’s quite the spectacle!

Don’t just take our word for it,

here’s what the team have to say about life at Darley:

“I enjoy and look forward to showing up for work every day because of my amazing team. I work with some of the brightest, friendliest, and most hard-working people. Another great thing about working at Darley House is that no two days are ever the same. The clients are very friendly, and I love meeting their fur babies of all age and size!”

Anna Breen, Reception Administrator.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for someone who will continue making the practice a pleasant working environment as this is just as important to us as clinical skills. Ideally, we would like the candidate to have some management or Clinical Director experience, but the role may suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to step up and learn the skills needed for a Clinical Director.

You must be confident in clinical matters encountered in a small animal general practice and can lead and support the team, both clinical and non-clinical, and still have the enthusiasm and energy to help the practice and staff progress and flourish.
