Highcroft (Whitchurch Referral)

Specialist or Residency Trained Clinician in Emergency and Critical Care to launch and develop an ECC service at Bristol Vet Specialists, UK

In Spring 2023 our fanstastic team at Highcroft Referrals will be relocating to a new, purpose built state-of-the-art hospital. This new hospital, located in Avonmouth on the East of Bristol, will be renamed Bristol Vet Specialists and will provide the first ever stereotactic linear accelerator in the South West of the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible ECC clinician to join our team and help to develop our ECC and Acute Medicine services. The ICU, and associated HDU, sit at the heart of our building surrounded by anaesthesia, medicine and neurology departments. With a dedicated receiving and triage area along with direct access from the emergency consulting room we have designed this space with work-flow at its core.

The current Highcroft Team includes five internal medicine specialists alongside multiple specialists in all disciplines including oncology, cardiology, neurology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, dermatology. We also have a number of active residency programmes in medicine, oncology, surgery and anaesthesia. It is anticipated that the successful candidate would work closely with the internal medicine team to develop an effective acute medicine and critical care service.

Our facilities include MRI (1.5T), CT (64 Slice), video-endoscopy (GI, airway, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy) DR digital radiography, ultrasonography, as well as digital fluoroscopy for interventional cardiology and radiology. The new hospital will include an Elekta 6MV Linac, capable of intensity-modulated and stereotactic treatment. Our ICU and HDU have been designed with escalation of care requirements in mind, including a dedicated critical patient area that can be isolated from the remainder of the space.

We are currently based in Southwest Bristol, and in Spring 2022 our new hospital (for more information click here) will open close to the M49 motorway in Avonmouth (North of the city, with excellent travel links to Wales, the Southwest, Central and Southern England). This is a beautiful and affordable area of the country in which to work, catering for city and country-lovers alike. Highcroft has a very strong team spirit and cases are managed in a collegiate manner. Quality of life for staff is very important with full-time specialists typically working a 4-day week; part-time and flexible working practice can also be accommodated. A competitive remuneration package is available for the right candidate.
