About Us

Alpha Veterinary Practice is based in the small town of Burry Port in the main street next to local shops, cafes and the train station. We are a small friendly down to earth, easy-going team with an emphasis on providing excellent services to clients and pets and pride ourselves on working in a relaxed atmosphere. We have an upstairs flat where staff can chill out with a cuppa and also a decent size garden for the warmer weather. We have an excellent team ethic and enjoy a good work balance.

The practice is in walking distance of the harbour and beach and there are many areas of outstanding beauty such as the Gower and West Wales with lots of attractions such as Folly Farm, Bluestone, and more locally Pembrey Country Park, and Forestry with a Blue Flag beach.

Our practice is fully equipped with 3 consultation rooms, an operating room, prep room, digital xray, endoscopy, diathermy, ultrasound and Idexx lab testing equipment. We are always looking to better our services.

We operate on an appointment system running from 9:00am to 12.30pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

We currently have 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 1 Registered Veterinary Nurse, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse and 5 Support Staff/Receptionists. We are looking for 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses to add to our team. We have worked hard over the last couple of years to achieving a team that works well together with a great team spirit, making sure everyone has input no matter what position they are in and operate not under a blame culture but a training and development one.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for two Registered Veterinary Nurses to join our team preferably with some experience and we would require two references. We are looking for someone to predominately take over our Vet Nurse clinic and we welcome any other suggestions that would benefit our practice. We would be happy if the candidate would like to pursue a Certificate in the future.
