Paisley Phoenix – Veterinary Surgeon

  • Salary up to 55k (or more DOE)
  • Varied caseload particularly surgery and exotics
  • Friendly, team atmosphere

Due to one of our wonderful team members moving to work closer to home we have a fantastic opportunity for a small animal vet to come and join us at Paisley Phoenix Vets4Pets: the ‘best Vets4Pets vet practice winner’ for 2019.

Our friendly, close-knit team is made up of 4 part time vets, 2 RVNs, 2 VCAs, and experienced support team led by practice manager Veronica who is also a Mental Health First Aider.

With vets originating from Ethiopia, Germany, Britain and Ireland, we are very much an international team who also have a diverse range of clinical interests. Alemu our Practice Principle enjoys orthopaedics and has 5 years critical care and emergency experience. Julian our Clinical Director grew up in Hong Kong and worked in Windsor for 5 years before moving to Scotland. He loves small furies and, as he is also greatly experienced with the pet travel documentation procedure, we often see referrals from local practices owing to this.  This is all in addition to the interesting and varied caseload you would expect to see in general practice. You can read more about our practice here.

Alemu and Brodick

In the next few months, we are also looking forward to working with ‘Pet Blood Bank,’ helping to further support veterinary care in our local community.

Our experienced nursing team work closely with the vets to make sure the day runs as efficiently as possible, and we are continuing to build the responsibilities of our nursing team.  We would therefore love to find a team member happy to help with coaching and training.

The ethos at our practice is one where we work hard and look out for one another with the team’s well-being a priority. We hold monthly 1 to 1s with all our staff and look to provide further support where needed on an individual basis. We enjoy team socials every 3-4 months, making time to socialise with each other out of work and, given there is a local pizzeria close to the practice, host pizza lunches in practice as well.

Our practice is based in Paisley, just 10 mins from Glasgow city centre and close to Glasgow Vet School. As we are based in a retail park so benefit from excellent transport links and availability of local amenities. You also don’t have to travel too far to find yourself surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Scottish Central Lowlands.

Our bright, spacious, air-conditioned surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and has state of the art equipment including orthopaedic surgical kit and we are one of the few practices in the area to have the Companion Litecure CTX-IQ laser which can be used in treating pain/trauma, stomatitis, urinary tract disorders & post-op recovery to name just a few.

This role is full time (35 hours), but we are open to discuss part time hours as long as you can help us out with our 1 in 3 weekend rota. You will be given time off in lieu for working a weekend and we welcome anyone looking for a consult only role. We are open for consults 7 days a week and our surgery days are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Time is allocated in the daily diary for admin where needed and no OOH is required as we use Vets Now. Ideally you will be confident with sole charge but most important to us is finding someone who is the right fit for our team.

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits package including:

  • Salary up to £55k (or more DOE)
  • Relocation package- up to £2K
  • Fully funded CPD and paid certification for the right candidate
  • Professional membership paid for (RCVS, BSAVA, BVA, VDS) Career progression
  • Exclusive discounts and benefits across the Pets at Home group and more

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet to join a really close, supportive team and provides excellent options for progression whether that be clinically or otherwise. Partnership would also be considered for the right candidate.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
