Endell Equine Hospital

We are currently undergoing a period of rapid expansion of personnel and hospital services. With the exciting, imminent arrival of a Hallmarq equine standing MRI on top of a pre-existing sports horse orthopaedic caseload, we've decided to create a new exciting position at our hospital.

If you're a new or recent graduate with a strong interest in equine orthopaedics and imaging, who has already completed a couple of years in practice then this could be the role for you. The successful candidate may use the experience to go on to complete certification or residency in orthopaedics/imaging.

The primary role will be working with the team, with an emphasis on lameness/sports medicine/imaging and assisting the equine referral service. This includes out of hours where the applicant will be on the on-call rota with the existing hospital intern, taking care of the hospitalised patients and overnight emergencies. There is flexibility with appropriate experience to perform some ambulatory duties as part of the role.

We have multiple experienced clinicians in equine orthopaedics including a Diploma-holding surgeon and an orthopaedic certificate holder, as well as an additional associate midway through ISELP certification. The successful candidate would assist these clinicians with their orthopaedic cases and imaging.

Role includes:
  • Acquisition and interpretation of radiography, ultrasonography and nuclear scintigraphy
  • Acquisition and interpretation of MRI
  • Creating imaging reports for studies, particularly MRI
  • Actively taking part in orthopaedic examinations, including palpation, assessment in motion including objective gait analysis (Equigait system), diagnostic anaesthesia and imaging

You'll have the appropriate support and experience, triaging hospital referrals as the case lead, with backup from experienced clinicians.
