Hear from some of our colleagues about flexible working in CVS Equine.

Bell Equine

One of our colleagues is jetting off on a sabbatical abroad so we are looking for an enthusiastic ambulatory vet to join our experienced and supportive team.

Our team of 14 ambulatory vets enjoy no OOH thanks to Equicall, with whom we work closely to provide an excellent service to our clients. Our vets regularly say how this has significantly improved their wellbeing. We are continually working hard to further improve the work life balance of our vets with regular admin blocks in their diaries, time allocated for a lunch break, a rota for picking up the late afternoon calls, and our last visit on a Friday booked at 3.30pm.

The role would suit someone wishing to continually develop in a knowledgeable and very friendly ambulatory team. We very much encourage certificates and CPD. Within Bell Equine we also have regular, informal CPD with our specialists consisting of either imaging, hospital, M+M, and grand rounds, as well as weekly ambulatory team catch ups. We also encourage vets to follow their cases alongside the specialists through the hospital where time allows, enabling you to continue to learn and develop.

We are extremely lucky to be able to work alongside the specialists in equine medicine, diagnostic imaging and surgery with access to excellent facilities (including MRI, CT, Scintigraphy, electrochemotherapy and over-ground scope) together with comprehensive EVN support. Our purpose-built RCVS accredited Equine Veterinary Hospital has been awarded “Outstanding” in all 5 PSS Awards.

At Bell Equine, we can adapt the role to suit your interests, whether that is lameness, internal medicine or even dermatology. We have all the mobile equipment required to work up cases to a high level on the road when required, usually accompanied by one of our fabulous ambulatory nursing assistants.

We would love to hear from experienced vets, but we can also offer a great opportunity to recent graduates, further supported by the CVS Equine New Graduate Programme.

Salary will be commensurate with experience with BEVA/RCVS subscriptions paid. We are situated in the heart of Kent with excellent transport links especially to London, only 45 minutes by train, or to Europe by Eurostar!

We offer:
  • 5 weeks leave a year plus bank holidays, rising to 6 weeks leave a year after first 5 years of service (1 extra day per annum based on service), options to buy/sell holiday to a maximum of 7 weeks
  • CVS Equine New Graduate Programme: https://www.cvs-equine.com/careers/graduate-scheme/
  • Flexibility for full or part time available
  • 5 days CPD, certificates encouraged
  • CVS Equine – a great network of equine clinics across the UK, with whom we all collaborate and provide internal CPD/support and share ideas from QI/Clinical and Wellbeing meetings
  • Enhanced parental leave policy
  • Company pension scheme
  • ‘Save As You Earn' (SAYE) scheme
  • Generous staff discount scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to Perk Box offering Entertainment, Travel and Retail discounts
  • Access to a range of flexible benefits to suit your needs – such as subsidised gym membership, and cycle to work scheme, salary sacrifice car scheme, health cash plan
