General Veterinary Nurse required at Scarsdale Vets, Pride Veterinary Centre

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team here at Pride Veterinary Centre First Opinion!

This position is ideal for anyone who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills further. The role is a mixture of theatre, anaesthesia and inpatient care. During your theatre days you will be working with our primary care team and be provided with training to enable you to carry out advanced anaesthesia for procedures such as BOAS, orthopaedics and laparoscopy surgery. You will also have the opportunity to be trained to carry out schedule 3 procedures.

When working in the wards you will be providing gold standard care to a mixture of first opinion and referral patients. You will be provided training and support to enable you manage the nursing requirements for a range of patients. You will learn advanced skills such as urinary catheter care, feeding tube management, CRI’s, physiotherapy and CPR.

This role would suit a newly qualified nurse or a primary care nurse who is looking to develop their skills and knowledge. All newly qualified nurses will be enrolled onto the IVC referral nurse program and will be provided with a mentor to help provide support throughout the first year. Within the programme you will also receive a year's membership with BVNA and be encouraged to attend BVNA congress.

CPD is actively encouraged and supported at Pride Veterinary Centre, and we have an extensive inhouse CPD programme. Nurses are encouraged to attend congresses, external training days and undertake certificates to help to develop their skills and knowledge.

Working hours for this role are varied and could be between 8am and 7pm and there will be some requirement to work twilight shifts. This equates to an average of 38 hours per week over 4 days. You will be required to take part in the weekend rota, working a 1 in 6 full weekends from 7.45am to 6pm. We have a bank holiday rota in place which means our nursing team are required to work 1 or 2 bank holidays a year. There would also be a requirement to take part in the night cover and on call rota, further information on this would be discussed at interview.

Salary for the role is up to £27,550 FTE depending on experience + Relocation allowance up to £1,000 available.
