Small Animal Vet required at Scarsdale Vets, Langley Mill

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team here at Scarsdale Vets, Langley Mill!

This role can adjust to fit your career aspirations. If you want to learn more about practice management, we can help you, but equally if you prefer to concentrate on building the services you enjoy, we can help with that too.

Building and maintaining your client base will be a key element of your responsibilities. You will have autonomy for your cases plus the full support of our hospital facilities and expert knowledge from the first opinion day and night teams and the referral services in Pride Park.

With proven experience of small animal care, you will have a good working knowledge of core clinical procedures and will provide excellent client care. Our customers come back to us again and again because they know we care. There will be some sole charge work at this practice, so you will need to be confident in making decisions.

The practice provides the ideal working environment to progress and develop further. We actively encourage and support CPD across all roles, with a number of team members holding or working towards certificates.

The role is full time, working an average of 38 hours over 4 days per week but we will be flexible and consider part time/job share – the most important thing is finding the right person for our team!

We offer our own out-of-hours service and have a dedicated experienced night team. You will take part in our weekend rota which works out as 1:4 Saturday Mornings at a local practice and 1:8 Sundays at our hospital with time off in lieu the next week. Admin time is factored into the week to make sure you can stay on top of paperwork.

Salary for the role is up to £59,850 depending on experience + relocation allowance up to £5,000.

About Us

Do you want to work in a purpose-built practice, with all the latest equipment and play a key role in the direction of your practice? If so, Scarsdale Vets can offer this at our Practice in Langley Mill. We are looking for a Vet to join the practice and help us to grow it to its full potential. Full training and support will always be available.

We are the largest provider of veterinary care in the East Midlands. The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service. In total we have 10 practice sites across Derbyshire and Staffordshire working within the local community offering a high-quality local service.

All our practices are RCVS approved and have well-equipped facilities including imaging and full surgical facilities plus onsite laboratory. We also have separate dog and cat wards to make sure we can keep our patients comfortable if they need to stay with us. We offer 15-minute Vet and Nurse consults.

About the Team and Culture

Due to our current vet moving home, we are now looking for a brand-new team member to help us to continue to offer this fantastic service to the local area. Our Langley Mill practice has been open since 2019 and is well established in the local area with regular clients.

Within the practice, you will be supported by a team of friendly and well-trained Client Care Assistants (CCAs), Practice Nurse, Trainee Nurse and Veterinary Care Assistant. You will work closely together each day, enabling you to build a close bond both with team members, patients and clients.

We have recently started welcoming rotations of vet students and tutors from Nottingham Vet School into the practice. This provides fantastic opportunities for the team to support and pass on their skills and knowledge to the next generation of Veterinary Surgeons.

We have a close-knit vet team who value the importance of supporting each other and sharing their knowledge to ensure we provide the best possible care to our patients.
