The role

Our Veterinary Surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part of each one of our sites. From routine health checks to advanced surgeries, you’ll work directly with clients and their pets to offer care that’s bespoke to them.

Our Vets provide essential support to Lead Vets or Branch Partners in delivering care to clients and their pets. This includes covering days off, holidays and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) days

Salary & Benefits

• - Salary package up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience, to include:
• - 5 weeks' annual leave (FTE)

The role is working 4 days per week with weekend on a fair rota basis and time of in lieu but flexible working on a full or part-time basis may be considered.

We also offer relocation allowances should you move more than 50 miles from your current home address. 

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK

Key accountabilities

• - Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock
• - Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues
• - Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds
• - Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required
• - Prescribe medication
• - Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations
• - Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock
• - Euthanise patients
• - Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures
• - Maintain patients’ medical records

Skills and experience

• - Registered with the RCVS
• - Qualified MRCVS
• - Commitment to animal welfare
• - Ability to keep on top of practise protocols and procedures
• - Excellent organisational skills

Pontefract is a historic town in West Yorkshire and known locally as Ponte or Ponte Carlo. Famous for its Pontefract cakes, castle and confectionary the area has a wealth of industrial history.

The team at Medivet Pontefract are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and are proud to offer a wide range of services with excellent facilities

The practice comprises 3 consult rooms, 2 surgical theatres, and with renovation plans being finalised will have a new improved layout coming that will aid high standard of clinical care.
Has digital X-ray, ultrasound and in house lab equipment with up to date analysers and external lab support and services.

Pontefract is in West Yorkshire and is the gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire dales. Once an industrial heartland, the region has been transformed and boasts excellent facilities for music, sport, culture and outdoor activities.

Pontefract boasts its own race course, indoor ski slope, indoor ice climbing wall and other entertainments at its large entertainment area, Xscape.
