Job Details

The role:

Our Veterinary Surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part in each one of our sites. From routine health checks to advanced surgeries, you’ll work directly with clients and their pets to offer care that’s bespoke to them.

Our Vets provide essential support to Lead Vets or Branch Partners in delivering care to clients and their pets. This includes covering days off, holidays, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) days

Salary & Benefits

Salary package up to £65,000 per annum depending on experience, to include:

  • - 5 weeks' annual leave (FTE)
  • - 4 weeks' paid sabbatical (after every 5 years of service)

The role is working 4 days per week with weekends on a fair rota basis and time off in 12-months 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)

We also offer relocation allowances should you move more than 50 miles from your current home address.

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • - Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock
  • - Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues
  • - Perform surgery, dress, and treat wounds
  • - Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging, and ultrasound testing where required
  • - Prescribe medication
  • - Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations
  • - Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock
  • - Euthanise patients
  • - Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures
  • - Maintain patients’ medical record

Skills and experience:

  • - Registered with the RCVS
  • - Qualified MRCVS
  • - Commitment to animal welfare
  • - Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures
  • - Excellent organisational skills

Branch:

At Stanhope Park Veterinary Hospital our exceptionally high standards can be seen consistently throughout our 3 practices. The biggest practice is based on Stanhope Road in Darlington and is an RCVS-accredited hospital that can accommodate all types of major surgery.

We also have a separate Cats and Exotics Clinic just around the corner on Duke Street, which is an extension of our Stanhope Road Hospital, allowing us to treat cats and exotic species in a dedicated stress-free environment! Our Middleton-St-George clinic has been providing clients with consultations and preventative treatments for many years now, and we have recently undertaken major renovation work at this surgery, allowing us to extend our services to include outpatient surgical procedures.

Stanhope Park is situated in the centre of Darlington, adjacent to a beautiful park perfect for a relaxing lunch break.
