Role: Veterinary Surgeon (Small Animal Bias)
Location: Prudhoe, Northumberland
Hours: Permanent, 4 - day week, 1 in 5 weekends
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience, from £30k per annum

The Role:
The role is in a mixed, first opinion practice, where the work ratio is around 85% small animal, 10% equine and 5% farm, therefore predominantly Small Animal. They ideally need someone who enjoys both consults and surgeries, and is capable of sole charge. You will be given autonomy and clinical freedom in this role, as well as have the capacity to grow and develop particular interests. You will have RCVS registration and be a fully qualified Veterinary Surgeon. Although this role is within a mixed practice, a huge proportion of the work is within Small Animal, therefore a small animal only Vet would be welcomed.
Experience is not essential for the right candidate, new graduates will be considered and well supported, the practice are enrolled on the Vet GDP programme. Salary will be dependent on experience.
A full time, permanent position, over 4 days per week, (part time hours are negotiable). The rota is over 5 weeks with one weekend in five on call (Friday night through to Monday am), plus 1 night per week. Work includes 1 bank holiday per year and the 2 Christmas weeks are shared equally alongside another local independent practice in an out of hours rota share. This practice values work life balance.
The ideal candidate will be:
- A likeminded vet who is a true team player. Motivated, extremely well organised and able to prioritise their own workload. Excellent people skills as the practice put the emphasis on being a “friendly practice” not “maximum profit”. Be caring and understanding whilst also being open and honest at the same time. Be able to work on your own initiative and be proactive.
The Practice:
This is a Tier 2 small animal practice, set within beautiful Northumberland, a stunning part of the country.
Completely independent, and proud of it, with a definite family feel. Established in 2001, they have been fortunate enough to serve the pets and pet-owners of Prudhoe and its surrounding area for over 20 years. They pride themselves on their affordability, openness and honesty.
The team are experienced and professional, with a very supportive network of staff.
