Job Details

Medivet South Wooton has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced veterinary surgeon to join our team as a lead vet.

In this role you will help drive continued high clinical standards and develop and lead the onsite team whilst growing new or expanding on current skills by taking the next step in your career by gaining management level experience.

The ideal candidate would be an experienced vet with a client-oriented approach and excellent communication skills. Someone able to work to a very high standard both medically and surgically and has the drive and ambition to help develop this practice beyond what has already been achieved. Team management experience would be beneficial as you will need to be able to support, develop and lead a team in a beautiful well, equipped, evolving 24hr hospital. 
 

The salary package of up to £60,000 PA

This is a permanent, full-time role working 39 hours a week over four days with 1:6 weekends but we're open to hearing what works for you so please get in touch.

Branch Partnership opportunities within this practice are also available where you can own part of the clinic, have complete clinical freedom whilst receiving full support from the wider Medivet network.

 

Key accountabilities:

- Manage the sales performance, budget and overall profitability of the practice on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock.
- Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues.
- Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds.
- Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
- Prescribe medication.
- Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
- Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock.
- Euthanise patients.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.

 

Skills and experience:

- Registered with the RCVS.
- Qualified MRCVS.
- Commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills.

Branch:

The practice is situated near the beautiful seaside on the north west Norfolk coast. This well-establish branch is well-equipped with digital x-rays, dental facilities, in-house laboratory and much more. The team currently consists of A branch partner/surgeon, a vet surgeon and two patient care assistants.
