Job Details

An opportunity has arisen for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join the fantastic team based at our mixed animal practice in Matlock, Derbyshire. 

Our Veterinary Surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part of each one of our sites. From routine health checks to advanced surgeries, you’ll work directly with clients and their pets to offer care that’s bespoke to them.

Applicants for this role will be expected to only cover the small animal day-time work.

The ideal candidate would have good experience gained in small animal practice, be competent in clinical examination/surgery and be confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team.

 

Salary package of up to £60,000 PA, including:

This is a permanent, full-time position working 39 hours a week over four days but we're interested to hear what works for you so please get in touch.

 

Key accountabilities:

- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock.
- Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues.
- Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds.
- Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
- Prescribe medication.
- Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
- Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock.
- Euthanise patients.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.

 

Ideally we would like someone who is qualified as a vet GDP advisor or willing to qualify.

 

Skills and experience:

- Registered with the RCVS.
- Qualified MRCVS.
- Commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills.

 

Branch:

Matlock is a mixed animal practice situated in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and on the edge of the Peak District. The recently refurbished practice is well equipped and has a varied caseload. Applicants for this role will only be expected to cover the small animal, day time work.
