Perth Veterinary Surgeon

Due to a valued member of our Vet team leaving for their dream job, we are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Vets4Pets: Perth, on a full-time or part time permanent basis.

We have a wonderful, friendly, longstanding team at Vets4Pets Perth and warmly welcome any new members to our veterinary family. As a team, we all support each other, and endeavour to create a happy, constructive and supportive working environment focusing on the importance of a good work life balance and mental health support. The team are all passionate, dedicated veterinary professionals who pride themselves on offering high standards of care while identifying areas to further improve. Currently, we are working towards becoming an RCVS accredited, ISFM cat friendly and RWAF rabbit friendly practice.

Our team consists of two progressive, senior vets (with a combined experience of over sixty years!) who are happy to mentor and pass on their knowledge in a supportive and constructive way. You will also be supported by an experienced Head Nurse/JVP and one FT RVN, one PT Veterinary Care Assistant, two Client Care Advisors and a supportive Practice Manager. We are also currently recruiting for another PT RVN to join our team. In addition, we have a great relationship with our Area Regional Manager (ARM) who is always on hand for extra support and advice.

Following a fire in 2019, we re-built our new practice in March 2021 and are based on St Catherine’s Retail Park in the centre of Perth. Perth is a lovely city, surrounded by fantastic scenery and steeped in rich history, with easy access to buses, train stations and motorway. Located half an hour from Dundee, just over an hour from Edinburgh and little over two hours from the Cairngorms means it is the perfect location for exploring Scotland on your days off. Our great location also means we benefit from a good variety of cases, including some interesting exotics (including Meerkats & Coatimundi’s) and a wonderful loyal client base.

We are lucky to be working in a Joint Venture Partner (JVP) run practice, built to modern industry leading standards which is well equipped with all the essentials including a brand-new Multi-parameter, Digital X-ray, Blood analysers, Ultrasound, Drip pump, designated theatre and separate cat, dog and isolation wards.

We offer full or part time hours and are happy to discuss a rota that is flexible to your commitments, whether that be weekend only, childcare friendly, full or half days or whatever you require to achieve the work life balance you need.  We are open 8:30am to 7pm weekdays, 9am to 6pm Saturdays and 10am to 6pm Sundays with a current 1 in 2 weekend rota. There are no OOH, with Vets Now Dundee, covering all our OOH emergencies. Your workload will be 100% small animal and some exotics and will include a range of first opinion consultations, medical work-ups and surgery. Standard 15-30 minute appointments are made for all small animal medical cases. Our team work together to ensure everyone gets their lunch break and we plan dedicated periods for admin tasks such as case follow ups and lab reports. Ideally you will have two or more years practice experience with a strong interest in first opinion general practice and surgery. We would however consider a new graduate and in which case you will receive structured mentoring.

By joining us you will be part of a dynamic team, whose main clinical focus is on preventive health, and we pride ourselves on our excellent client care and pet welfare standards, so it is essential that you have the same values and high standards as our current team. This position would be ideal for vet who thrives on being part of a supportive team, building rapport with our loyal client base and providing a high level of clinical care for our patients.

We offer a supportive and friendly working environment with excellent career development opportunities and an benefits package. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, please get in touch as we would love to meet you to have an informal chat about the role, meet the team and visit the practice. All initial enquires can be made to: Fionn. Mckenzie RVN (Head Nurse & Practice Partner) via email at Fionn.Mckenzie@vets4pets.com.
