Pride Referral has an exciting opportunity for a Referral Theatre Manager to inspire and develop their team, whilst utilising their proven leadership skills.

The successful candidate will be a qualified veterinary nurse with extensive knowledge of working in referral theatres and anaesthesia.

You will be responsible for managing the theatre department, ensuring stock and equipment are maintained, protocols are kept up to date and ensuring the theatre department runs smoothly and efficiently. You will also be the direct line manager for the theatre nursing and support team and will be required to carry out administration duties such as performance reviews, return to work meetings and rota responsibilities.

Good communication skills are essential, and you will be required to liaise with our referral hospital list manager, referral clinicians and the nursing team, to ensure the day runs smoothly and patients receive gold standard care.

You will be part of our theatre nurse rota and will also be responsible for training theatre nurses, student nurses, interns and support staff, thus ensuring we maintain the highest standards of care.

The role is full-time, working a 4-day week (averaging 38hrs). Once fully trained you would be expected to join our on-call rota, which averages out at once weekly.

About the Team and Culture

We are a group of skilled and passionate nurses, working within the theatre team at Pride Veterinary Centre. We work closely with specialist referral clinicians from a range of disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology and neurology. Day to day, we work especially closely with the anaesthetists, providing anaesthesia and sedation for other services. Despite working within such a big team, we succeed in maintaining a friendly and supportive ethic. We are passionate about providing gold standard of care and as such, all team members receive ongoing support from highly skilled colleagues in both theatre and anaesthesia.

Applicant Requirements

Required skills and experience

  1. Qualified RVN
  2. Leadership/managerial experience
  3. Experience working in referral theatre/ anaesthesia
  4. Excellent communication and organisation skills
  5. An interest in developing others
  6. Passion and enthusiasm for the job
  7. Experience in a very busy hospital environment
  8. Ability to motivate and enthuse team members

Would be good to have

  1. Experience working on-call
  2. Advanced theatre/ Anaesthesia qualification
  3. Leadership/ Management qualification
