We are a small animal practice in the beautiful West End of Glasgow.

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our nursing team at The Veterinary Centre, Glasgow. We are currently looking for an experienced RVN to join our practice on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

You will be working as part of a clinical team comprising of 7 vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs and 3 ACA's.

The practice opens between 8.30am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday and between 8.30am and 5.30pm on a Saturday. We can offer a flexible weekday rota and the Saturday rota is currently 1 in 4. No OOH. 

At The Veterinary Centre, no two days will be the same, but some daily duties will include:

  • Theatre Nurse - admit and discharge patients attending for surgery. Monitoring anaesthetics, taking/processing radiographs, maintenance of tubes and drains.
  • Kennel Nurse - ensure the highest standard of patient monitoring and nursing care is delivered to inpatients.
  • Consults and Clinics - perform a range of procedures from nail clips to anal gland expression. Participate in the design and implementation of new nurse clinics.
  • Pharmacy Nurse - Calculate and administer medications. Dispense repeat prescriptions. Ensure effective stock control and rotation. Attend to client advice calls.

Duties and responsibilities also include:

  • Laboratory Work - Run bloods and cytology.
  • Admin - Maintain accurate client and patient medical records.
  • Cleaning - Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning is carried out to a high standard. Maintain & clean all equipment in the appropriate manner.
  • Training - Assist with training student veterinary nurses.

All of the above is flexible.

Salary for the role is up to £30,000 depending on experience.

About Us

Traditional site in a beautiful area, but recently renovated to a high clinical standard. Modern blood machines, x-ray processing, scanning. Plans for expansion underway so exciting time to join the team as many opportunities for training, specialism etc. Really lovely, closely bonded team - one big family.

About the Team and Culture

7 vets, 5 RVNs, 2 SVNs, 3 ACA's, 3 receptionists, manager, assistant manager. One vet about to commence training in advanced surgery and orthopaedics. Candidate will join RVN team. CPD and specialist training encouraged and funded. We take part in local promotional events, such as Dog Lovers Show. We are the vets who work alongside local Dog Day Care and grooming services.

Applicant Requirements

The ideal candidate is highly professional, well presented, and flexible. They are friendly, outgoing, and able to work independently but also as part of team. The ideal candidate should have a strong focus on animal care and be capable of providing the highest level of customer service to our clients. The post is ideally suited to a hard-working, ambitious RVN who is keen to develop specialist skills and nurse clinics at the Practice. Ideally qualified or soon to qualify but would consider experienced SVN who is shortly finished second year.
