Townsend (Bromsgrove)

We are looking for a vet with proven experience and clinical skills seeking to develop themselves and become a part of a compassionate, family-feeling team at Townsend Vets in the West Midlands!

We believe in:
  • Care with compassion: We believe in having empathy for our patients and clients at all times
    • We do hugs. We're there for our clients in times of grief.
  • Part of the ship, part of the crew: We believe in kindness and humour between team members
    • Our Christmas videos are legendary
  • Good, honest medicine: We will always help our clients if we can, and will work with our partners to find a solution to the gnarliest problems, or help with the little things.
    • We offer FOC nail clips, anal gland expression etc during routine procedures.
    • We are always honest and open about our mistakes with our clients and team members
  • Creative care: Every animal and circumstance is unique, and requires tailored care
    • We use a well-established network of telemedicine specialists to enhance our care in practice
  • Focus on the future: We believe in constantly looking to improve and bring in new techniques and ideas
    • Investment in new equipment and constant adoption of new techniques and medications including monoclonal antibody therapies, antibiotic reduction in dermatology etc.

We are a practice with deep roots in the local community, lovely clients, and a belief in giving our best to our patients and each other. We believe in developing through our team members, with recent purchases of multi-parameter monitoring and electrocautery, as well as digital x-ray, endoscope, ultrasound, digital dental X-ray, slit lamp, indirect ophthalmoscope, electrolysis, surgical loupe and tonometry.

We currently have vets with extra qualifications in Dermatology and Behaviour and have a certificate-holder in Ophthalmology, and would love to add someone with a medical or surgical bent to our roster. We have a kind and highly experienced team of nurses and receptionists, certified fear free practitioners, and dedicated cat ward and cat and rabbit waiting areas.

Full time is 38 hours a week with the choice to spread this over 4 or 5 days, and flexible working options are available to fit with childcare or specific needs. 1:3 Saturdays (Alternating 9-5 and 9-1) with full day or half day off in lieu respectively the following week, 1 late night a week (7pm), and 1 early morning a week (8.45am) otherwise from 9am to 6pm with no overnight work. Standard 5 weeks annual leave with the ability to negotiate up to 7 weeks.

Salary would run up to £50,000 dependent on experience and competence and you will have a CPD budget of £1500, with 6-monthly reviews with your mentor to plan further development.

Looking forward to meeting you for fish and chips on a Friday! (If that's your thing).

Will and the Team

We know that benefits are key, and that your personal benefits priorities will differ from others. Holidays, pensions, discounts, paternal leave, fee payments or share save schemes might be your priority. Flexible working is essential for others, and we are very open to finding a creative working pattern that suits. For clinical staff, CPD is probably critical. Just so you know we offer a wide range of amazing CPD – you'll have access to Knowledge Hub, the best online veterinary learning resource within the industry - and we also offer an allowance to spend on external courses too. If you'd like to learn more, do feel free to contact the recruiter managing this campaign and ask them to talk you through our offerings. Or, if easier, you can find a list at on our careers site CVS Employee Benefits- what we can offer you. (cvsukltd.co.uk)
