Position: Laboratory Assistant – Haematology, Cytology and Biochemistry

Location: Finn Pathologists, Harleston, Norfolk, IP20 9EB

Working hours: Full time, Tuesday - Friday 7:00am - 3.30pm, Saturday 7:00am -12.30pm

Finn Pathologists is dedicated to providing a quality diagnostic service to the veterinary profession. We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our laboratory team, which consists of a wide range of laboratory and technical duties. Processing diagnostic samples from clients located all over the UK as well as parts of Europe, our laboratory team are critical in producing timely results to the highest standard.

You must be able to demonstrate an organised and thorough approach to your work. Previous laboratory experience or scientific interest would be advantageous, however, this is not essential as full training will be provided. Proven manual dexterity, good organisational skills and a conscientious and methodical approach to work is essential.

Key Responsibilities are:
  • Laboratory based skills including chemistry, haematology and cytology.
  • Sample handling of veterinary diagnostic specimens.
  • Use of laboratory equipment.
  • Health and safety and standard operating procedure training.
  • Basic IT skills for our own computer software.

An ideal candidate to join the team would:

  • Have the ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Thrive on providing quality service to both internal and external customers.
  • Have the ability to communicate clearly (both written and verbally).
  • Be able to perform routine daily tasks without error.
  • Have the ability to work independently but also be a team player and have a positive attitude.

The role will include general maintenance and cleaning tasks in the laboratory, stock management and sample preparation along with any other duties required.
